I don't think it's got anything to do with playing an instrument per se. It sounds like herpes infection that some people get on their finger when they make contact with an object/person that may have had it. Get tested for it if it's really worrying you. It looks like it comes and goes. As always keep have good hygiene and keep that particular finger away from your eyes when you get the bump.

I know this was a year ago, but usually what happens is alot of puss builds up, atleast thats what happened to me. Get it removed as quickly as possible. It will hurt, but better than going to the hospital over it. After the puss is removed by your doctor, you will have dead skin the peels off. So yeah

I seem to have the same issue. A white/yellow spot under the skin which I have tried squeezing to burst it but it just becomes painful. I will try a needle or clippers tonight and report on how i get on!

I have had something similar to what you're experiencing. It may be worth seeing a doctor. I saw one white bump on my finger that wouldn't pop and hurt me quite a bit. After a couple days I had a few more. I went to the doctor and they said it was a form of eczema...I've had eczema before that did not look like that at all but I used the cream they gave me and it was gone within two days. Now that I pay closer attention I do see them pop up during the winter or when I wash my hands excessively.

I know this is kind of late but I am a violinist and plushie maker and I got one on my pointer finger on my left hand. It kind of hurts if I press down on it,it isn't a huge deal but kind of annoying and a little painful when I try and play or prick my finger. Any idea how to get rid of it?

I do. I just felt a sting on my pinky and looked at it and there was a tiny pinpoint blister with a white head. I squeezed it and a little white ball came out and then clear liquid then blood. Now it looks like a little crater?

Is this a musician thing? (mostly? )
I'm a pianist and artist and mother of four. I use my hands all-the-time!
Side of top middle finger.
I squeezed it out to speed recovery. Still hurts like hell anytime it brushes against anything.
I've looked at all kinds of dermatological nightmare images online. This seems to be the place for answers.
How long has it lasted for you?

I had the same thing, on the end of my middle finger. It had been growing for about a month. It finally broke open today while I was taking out the recycle (must of hit the end of the finger). I first noticed it while I was flossing my teeth. Then I relized I always use the same finger to hold my floss. Don"t know what that means but probably has something to with strings.
