Identical problem. Started after unprotected sex. Got tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc on Friday and waiting for results.

Have a feeling it's a bacterial infection.

We have to realize it could be HPV. There are over 40 strains. Some lead to cancer, some don't.

Hoping it's chlamydia so I can take the medication and have it be gone.

By the way, for me, it's on and off.

Mostly burning in the morning when I awake and pee.

I know what the issue is that most of you are describing. It's called Trichomonas vaginalis. You contract the disease from unprotected sex. Symptoms can come and go and range from mild to severe. If left untreated, symptoms can last from months to years.

I should add that it can not be diagnosed from symptoms alone. You have to request the Urologist test for this problem.

Jason, look up Trichomonas vaginalis. It causes symptoms to come and go and sounds like what you have. Men with trichomoniasis may feel itching or irritation inside the penis, burning after urination or ejaculation, or some discharge from the penis. Also, like I said the symptoms can come and go daily and range from mild irritation all the way to severe irritation.

I have treated for trichomonas using flagyl, first few days symptoms appeared to be improving, on the 5th day it started creeping back showing resistance.. This disease is frustrating, this is the trend when i take antibx, i get relieve for a few days and after that it resurfaces with vengence. Been on this fight now for 3 years.

I can help you all, i experienced this too. I promise you it has something to do with how hydrated you are. Try drinking abit more  water and you should be fine after a little while. I remember the burning was so nasty i had to stay in shower untill warm water was out, cause it was so uncomfortable >.<

Why do you think it might be HPV? I have never read that HPV causes burning sensations, do you know something I don't?

Ok, I have the same symptoms as many of you describe so I did a lot of research and I hope this post helps some of ya'll or at least get us closer to an answer.

About 5 months ago I had unprotected sex with a transvestite (yes I know worst decision ever, I regret it enormously, f**k alchohol and porn addiction, but whatever for now). I went to the doctor a few days later and got tested for STD's. I told him I had just had risky sex so he gave me medication for Chlamydia and Gonnorhea which consisted of a shot and a 10 day prescription for doxycycline which I ended up getting weeks later because I was waiting for the std results to come back positive before I spent any money. A few weeks later I began feeling a slight burning sensation in my urethra and anus. At first I wasn't even sure if it was really there because the burning was so slight and it would come and go. I also noticed that when I was busy I wouldnt feel it. But after a while it became more noticable, especially when I peed so I finally went in for the doxycycline (10 day course, 100mg twice a day). While I was taking the doxy the burning seemed to go away and I thought I was cured. A few days after finishing the treatment the burning came back. At first I thought I had taken the meds wrong so I told a doctor friend of mine what had happened and he gave me a single dose (2g) of some medicine that starts with an A. That medicine helped for about 2-3 days but the symptoms ended coming back. When I finally got another appointment with the doc she told me my origial STD tests came back negative. I told her I was still feeling the burning sensation so she treated me for gonnorhea and chlamydia again thinking I had gone on and had more freaky sex without telling her but I hadn't. I received another shot and a 2g dose of Azithromycin and got retested. I think the burning went away for a few days but sure enough it came back.

That was about 2 weeks ago. The results of that last test came back negative for gonnorhea and chlamydia but I was still feeling the burning so I went back to the docs yesterday.  I told them what was going on and they tested me for a urinary tract infection (UTI) and trichomoniasis (trich) but the tests came back negative. The doctor once again prescribed me a single 2g dose of Azithromycin and a 7 day course of doxycycline for gonnorhea and chlamydia, this is my 3-4th time. I just took the Azithro last night and I started taking the doxycycline today. I do notice some relief when I take azithro and doxy so I am hoping taking them back to back does the trick this time but I am kind of doubtful.

Either way these are some of the things I think might be causing it, at least for some of you these are probably it:

Trichomoniasis, male yeast infection (candida/thrush), non-gonoccocol urethritis (NGU) most likely caused by Mycoplasma Genitalium or Urealyctum something. It could also be E. Coli apparently. Or something physical might be wrong with the prostate. Penile cancer was also thrown out there as a possibility. On a side note I did end up having genital warts after the encounter so maybe that could have something to do with it.

Idk but after researching these seem like a good place to start looking. I'm gonna finish up the doxy and let ya'll know how it went. If any of you figure it out what this stupid thing is please come back and let us know. I'm sure many of us here could use the help!

Get your urine checked and see if there is any extra protein in the sample.

Your doctor might have to give you a shot of (newer form of penicillin) a higher dose

see if the infectious disease doctor can do a few tests and send them to a lab that specializes in specialized

infections.(not all labs do that)
