Yes, if you are having burning/pain or similar symptoms when you stop using the steroid cream on your genitals, you are likely going through topical steroid withdrawal/red skin syndrome.

The genital area and the eyelids absorb more of the topical steroids than any other part of your body -- 30-40% -- so you will quickly cause side effects in the area.

Don't mess around with steriod creams.  I suggest you go see a doctor.  You might want to start using a penis health creme too.  These cremes are made just for the penis and help with all sorts of skin issues down there.  It might help you out.  Good luck.

Hey guys,

I used a lot of hydrocortisone on my penis for about two weeks and have some simialr symptoms here and on other closed forums (google.)

Its been a few months of constant worry but I just started using bandages to help heal the tissue and guess what?! ITS REALLY HELPING! I highly recommend picking some up at a grocery or pharmacy and trying them. While they are smaller (my injury is fairly small, not the whole penis) leave them on for as long as possible and follow directions and my swelling and redness has gone down a lot! They act like real skin and protect the injury keeping moisture in. I was super skeptical but with the first 2 days I already noticed the skin healing faster and not peeling nearly as much!
TRY THEM!

There is a product available called Man1 Man Oil that specializes in damaged penis skin. It contains several vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants that will rejuvenate and strengthen your penis skin quickly and safely. It is a wonderful product. You can get it online. And stay away from the steroid creams unless it is absolutely necessary. Good luck to you.

I used corticosteroid creme for Balanatis more than 7 years ago. I used for a couple of weeks. I now have chronic pain, my glans is red when erect, the skin there is thin and there is some mild striae.

I believe the chronic pain is caused by nerve damage, so it is a neuropathic condition.

Ask your doctor to subscribe you something that is used for neuropathic conditions.

I'm on my second day of Low Dose Naldextrone. For many people it's a miracle drug. I'm having pain relief. If or when this stops working, I may try Gabapentine.

What strength of corticosteroid did you use, and where exactly did you use it? By chronic pain, do you mean it's constantly burning?

i was prescribed by a doctor, a mild steroid cream to apply to my penis for balanitis. i used it for three weeks as prescribed.

afterwards my penis skin was very thin, red, transparent, with burst capillaries everywhere.

that was four years ago.

it hasn't improved at all.

i'm miserable.

i used to be very happy.

but that was when i was a different person. one without a freak penis.

sex life destroyed.

A scar cream and silicon scar healing patch helped immensely for me please go to your local pharmacy and get it! It made the red go away and the skin grow back. Follow the directions and wear the patch as long as you can while keeping them clean. In 6 weeks I was fully healed. Same problem.

I have some questions. Did the burst capilaries also improve? And most importantly: did you have pain before, and did the pain sensation improve?

What kind of brands did you use? Sure it's safe to use on the glans penis...?

Thank you
