HI guys. Same here, im from argentina. I think i read this forum early enought to no mess up. I have been treated with corticoids around 4 years ago to treat balaniitis, used for 1 week and at the end my penis was red, etc... Droped the topic cream and cured my balanitis. But after that my glands never feels like before, to sensible to everything (never noticed that steroids can cause this). 5 months ago i have balanitis again trated with same topic for 5 days and healing fine. Now i have the same balanitis. I treated myself around 1 week with interruptions and just heal and come back. I dropp the f****g steroid now but i feel worried about if i messed up forever my penis :(. Now i dont know if i have "balanitis" or witharw corticoids. I have solution???
Hey I’m checking how is your symptoms now after a year bro as I’m going through it now
I had the worst thrush/ Eczema on my penis for around 6 months. Nothing would touch it. Anti fungal, topical and oral tablets. I resorted in using the lowest hydrocortisone cream on it. ( I have a bad history with steroid creams in the past but it was my only option)
It made everything worse. Masking the symptoms. You body will crave stronger steroids the more your body adjusts to the cortisol you are putting into your body. If you are using steroid creams stop now! Please!
It’s a hard road going cold turkey but it can be done. I last used around 4 months ago and I’m nearly there. When flaring bad remember. Cold showers. Sudocream, calamine lotion, coconut oil. This will help!
The best thing to stop flares I found was making my own collidial oatmeal cream. Just from porridge oats. It was something I always rolled my eyes at in the past but after blending some oats up with hot water and strained it gave me such relief.
The hardest thing is doctors don’t appreciate what TSW is. ( topical steroid withdrawal) you will feel lost and lonely in the nights when itching. Just know it will stop. All things will pass. Cut sugar out and lean towards a more carb free diet. Complex carbs can be massive triggers.
Best of luck people you are not alone

Are you able to have sex? When the time comes again for me I think a condom will help protect my Johnson.
I wanted to post on here with some hope for anyone out there suffering. To all of you reveling in others suffering, shame on you. I applied a fluorinated topical steroid on the tip of my penis maybe a dozen times over a few months to treat some eczema. It initially worked, so encouraged, I continued with a very small amount. Well, I had some skin thinning and the skin broke and become very irritated and minorly infected. It was horrible and reading on this forum made me more scared. I’m happy to say my penis is nearly normal, still a little sensitive, but functional for sex/masturbation and just normal activities like running. Here’s what I did to help.
- discontinue all steroid immediately
- I wrapped a very soft tissue around the base of my penis and used medical tape to hold it. Don’t cut off circulation. I used this method to get through parts of my day that I needed to wear pants, otherwise let that bad boy breathe and don’t mess it!
- once my wound healed, which will take a long time because steroids delay healing, I started to apply hyaluronic acid serum to it to assist moisture retention and colloidal oatmeal cream like CeraVe
- stay hydrated, try not to stress and let your body heal on it’s time.

Hey how are you
Steroid cremes like Cortizone WILL thin your skin. Not too bad on loose skin but thin sensitive tight skin like you head is gonna cause thinning problems
Hey man! I know this comment was from a year ago, but I am having similar issues and your comment seems really encouraging. I went out yesterday and bought the silicon ScarAway healing patches, and I also bought the Mederma Advanced scar gel. I just have some questions for you to better understand how you used these products:
1) How did you use the healing patches? I was reading the directions last night, and it said to leave a single patch on for 10 days and to not let it get prolonged exposure to water. To me, that seems like it would be a little unsanitary because I wouldn't be able to wash my penis very well every day, which I feel could only make the situation worse. Do you think it would be okay to only wear the patches at night? That way I can still bathe every morning and wash my genitals? Can you explain how you wore them and how you still managed to keep the area clean?
For now, this is how I plan on using the patches/cream together: After showering in the morning, I will put the scar cream on my penis and let that do its thing during the day. At night, I will shower again and then put the healing patch on and let that do it's thing while I sleep. Rinse and repeat. Do you think that will bring similar results? And how does that compare to how you used the patch/cream together?
Sorry for the excessive questions and needing so many details. Like many people on this forum, I am pretty desperate and have been struggling with this issue for a few years now. I appreciate your help!

Dude you're literally like my exact same story. I got incorrectly prescribed a steroid cream for my penis when I was 17 and it had the exact same effects. I am 25 now, and it has healed a lot on it's own, but there is still some natural redness and the skin in some areas is a lot thinner. It's taken a toll on me mentally. I went out yesterday to buy a scar cream and scar patches to follow that guy's advice. I started with the scar cream yesterday, but I still haven't tried the patches. How has your progess been since you last commented? Hope you're doing better.
What steriod cream did you use ?
