Hi all. I had been training for a marathon. I used to run up to 50 each week with both hill and track workouts. Anyway, during a 4 mile road race on a downhill I felt weird pain in my left hamstring on the upward motion of my leg. After that my leg just had not responded and I fell down… Ever since, I’ve had sciactic pain. I have been stretching the perifomis muscle for 4 weeks now and feel much better. My question is: how long is this supposed to last and can I safely try running afterwards?? Please help.
I don't think it's in your best interest to run through the pain. Has your chiropractor helped you understand why you got this injury in the first place? He should give you exercises to strengthen the weak muscles… On the other hand, if you're doing only stretching you're quite likely overlooking the perpetrator! Anyway, I think you should follow your chiropractors instructions. He should also be able to tell you when you’ve fully recovered.
