Hi dear all,
this problem was getting increasingly irritating to me. I have been having a occasional tingling exactly below my right shoulder blade. It happens somewhat under the skin. It can be induced alse by sometimes typing on a keyboard etc and is getting more and more frequent. Absolutely painless.
It felt as if something is growing inside me like a worm or something and I felt this sensation when it moves :-) I know it is crazy and preposterous but this was what it felt. Unless it was a Bot fly! But I believe there are no Bot flies in Germany.
Anyways I now know what it is. I must go to the doctor and see what he says. I hope it is nothing serious but it seriously distracts and irritates me whenever I am trying to focus, read, type etc.
I didn´t think I would find any information when I googled "tingling in back" but I was wrong.

I have experienced the same thing. it kinda feels like there is a hair that goes deeper than skin and some one is just holding the hair not pulling on it, or a tingly sensation. sometimes it kinda feels like there is a pea under the skin. it doesn't "hurt" but i can feel it and it feels odd and uncomfortable. it is on my right side of my spine kinda under and to the left of my right shoulder blade. i went to my doctor and had an xray cause there is nothing on the surface and they also did an ultra sound and found nothing. i am going to try a massage and a chiropractor and maybe another doctor. i think its just odd.

Dear all,

I too have this strange tingling on the left side of my back, just below my shoulder blade. It comes and goes throughout the day while I sit in my office chair. I'm coming out of a year of recovery from a severely herniated disc, and am just now back to about 100% range of motion and experience almost no pain from that injury anymore. That said, I am now experiencing this odd tingling in that one spot. I believe that it's related to my efforts to improve my posture.. I've been focusing very hard on the way I sit, stand, walk etc to avoid another herniated disc (I believe my posture was a big part of the cause of my injury.. I'm 6'5", it's hard to sit straight all the time!). So my muscles get tired, and inevitably I slouch in my chair here and there.. and it's THOSE times that I find the tingling comes most often. If I'm walking or doing almost anything else, I rarely get the tingling.

Just wanted to share my experience.. I believe wholeheartedly my situation is caused by my fatigue in my back, due to the efforts to focus on and correct my poor posture. I'm hoping that as the muscles strengthen, they will support my back better and avoid the nerve irritation. Good luck to everyone, remember it could always be worse... trust me. A year of crippling pain is the most horrible experience I've ever been through, so I'm going to continue to work the muscles and improve my back health, one day at a time.

Man, another 'me too' from my end. I thought I had a blemish and it drove me even crazier because I couldn't reach it well. It's like this little patch of skin just fell asleep. All numb and tingly and I can't really take it.

What gives? Seriously, I'm going outta mind with frustration over it.

I went to the beach one afternoon and enjoyed some surfing. This was about two years ago. When I came home, I realized by back was bleeding. I had my father help me figure out what was going on and we found it was a mole that had actually fallen off because of sun, or sand might have scratched it off. Not sure. It healed up and it turned back into a mole with a white spot around it. I went to the skin doctor and he removed it, and the skin around it. I don't know if this has anything to do with why I'm also experiencing this tingling around my skin too, or not.
I'm 19 years old, 6'4 and 155 pounds. I don't get too much exercise around my back either, which bothers me. I don't even go to the gym anymore. It seems as if it starts when my back is fatigued or tired of keeping my posture straight. I've always had it implanted in my mind by my parents "Stand up straight" But I'm skinny, and my back doesn't have much muscle, so it's hard.
I think it's just lack of exercise guys. Might want to try getting some back exercise and then try the chiropractor..
That's also another thing. I stopped going to the chiropractor and it started soon after that. Nerve damage, or lack of strength in back, who knows. I spend way too much time in front of the computer.

Hello all! I'm 23, female, and I have the same problem on the right side of my back with a spot 4inches in diameter that is numb on the surface. I also experience tingling and itch. I've had it for 2 years now. It started when I worked at a veteranarian. I was constantly working with my arms out in front of me with what I was working on placed lower than me. I really believe this is a nerve problem associated with physical work or use. I notice most people have it on their right side with less people with it on their left. Most people are right handed, most people work with that side.

I thought I caught round worm because it started with a small itchy spot on my back. I asked a girl to check it, she said nothing was there! Then one day it was numb on the surface. It's still like that today.

I say get messages and if you're really worried insist your doctor tell you what nerves could possibly be in that area and if their prone to be under stress. That is what I'm going to do

Wow. I'm convinced..you can find EVERYTHING on google. lol. But yea, i got the same thing..on the left side, though. And im left handed...so she(^) might be right about the left/right handedness theory. It's the tingling sensation, no pain. I do feel it more when i think about it. It comes and goes, moreso when im slouching on my computer. I have a theory. I'll call it the "Desmond Theory" since my name's Desmond. My theory is that its a "mild, but not really", version of a herniated disc thats putting pressure on the nerves there. IDK, im just applying my knowledge from Human A&P and watching House a lot. lol. On the good side, this forces us to keep our posture straight. When someone finds out the REAL answer, thanks

I have the same on my left shoulder blade... starts tingling and even itches or gets hot feeling... I am convinced it is a pinched nerve somehow in my lower back.. have had it for about 6+ years now and started after I did pop something in my back lifting a heavy object.

Add me to the list. I too have had the same symptoms. Tingling in back near shoulder blade and spine on Right side. It drives me crazy and I guess I need to get to the Dr to find our what this is. I do sit at a computer desk a lot so maybe that is part of it.

Wow, I can't believe this. I'm right handed and it's on my right. Mine definetly gets worse when I stress or think about it. I exercise 5-6 times a week and have been for the last 3-4months. I do take pills and I use to drink but I don't any longer. I'm only 2 weeks into mine. I feel like I may be just imagining it though as lately I have been a bit of a hypocondriac ( just turned 29 and I feel like my health is going to rapidly deteriorate).......are other kind of "over concerned" with their health or paranoid of becoming Ill? (be honest as it will help you and others out on here). Also, do others notice it varies in severity depending on how much you are thinking or focusing on it or stressing?

I don't think handed-ness has anything to do with it. I've only been experiencing the tingling for about 3 weeks, but my tingling is on the left side and I'm a righty...It just doesn't make sense. WebMD says it may be a symptom of Lyme disease, but I have no rash, and I've been spending most of my time indoors.

I've got the exact same thing!! After reading all the posts there are some definite trends. I'm a 29 yr old female, sit at a computer, typing for 8+ hours every day. I do feel like I have weakness in my back and poor posture I'm sure. I've had a dime size area on my right shoulder area (I'm a righty). It tingles but doesn't itch. I've had this for about 2 mos now and was already being evaluated for carpal tunnel and tendinitis. I think I have both. I did notice a correlation when I'm stressed out (much like how your eye will twitch when stressed). Hope this helps!

wow, this is wild i developed this tingeling about a year ago. its on my left side right under my shoulder blade. when it first appeared i thought it was a bump that was ready to pop. i had a friend look at it and i was told there is nothing there. i said no way it has to be there i feel it...well once i realized it was not a bump i kinda of got nervous. wondering if it might be cancer or something. THIS IS CRAZY THIS TINGLING it is not uncomfortable its just a pleasent tengling. the only soreness i every have is when the activity lasts long periods of time and i try to scratch it however it still is not painful..like i said mine started back in Feb of 09, just a little back ground info. i have 2 dogs. one, a very sensitive lab and one is a littled mix dog, about this time i was in the process of getting my house ready to put on the market to sale. i had also lost a very close friend to cancer she died in Jan 09 it was during this time that the tengleing started and AT THE SAMETIME MY LAB STARTED acting funny towards me. i just assumed it was all the crazyness that was going on around me..like some of you i worried it was something serious and wondered if i should go see a dr. i did not go to the dr i was just to busy to go at this time..i noticed that my lab.......and this is where it gets ODD..my lab would not look at me, now this dog is my buddy and thinks shes a 10 lb pup she has always been gluded to my side....but now instread of laying and looking at me like she had always done she would lay with her back to me turing to look to make sure i was there but she would not gaze at me like she had always done.....ok she was just stressed out over the stuff going on around us...well i sold the house and bought another one. we moved in memorial weekend during this time the tingleing was present but for some reason it did not worrie me now..i dont know why...THIS IS WHERE SOME OF YOU WILL SAY HE IS CRAZY BECAUSE THIS IS THE ODD PART and that is ok..because when i tell people about this tingleing they think i am crzay because they dont understand.....I came home one evening from work and i was on the sofa with Max my lab the tingleing was very active Max was looking at my face and her eyes moved over to my left shoulder and then back to me then back to my left shoulder as if she was looking at something. i said "Max do you see something?" well she snuggeled up VERY CLOSE TO ME and her head turned to look over my shoulder, then back to my face again i said "Max do you see it, i feel a tingling. and Max put her head under my chin and pushed her body up as close as she could get to me. well at that point the tingleing BECAME VERY ACTIVE. and i got very scared. it was at that point that i realized that that tingleing was not a medical condetion but that the tingleing was and active sprit.....YOU SAY HES NUTS. as crazy as this sounds. this tingleing has actually helped me spirtually. I AM NOT A RELEGIOUS PERSON. i dont belive in orginized relegizion...its nothing more then a way for man to control man...anyway ....i started to activelly talk to this tingleing when i occured....what i have found is that when i feel this tingle, i take the time to close my eyes and clear my head and i guess you could say pray.....and then it goes away..when i am in a situation that is stressfull this tingleing will start and i take the time to breath and pary/meditate, and it goes away and i am relaxed.....as CRAZY as this sound...i truely believe my angle/spirit is trying to help me be a better person. I dont know if any of you will read this and practice the meditation but if you do i would like to know what results you have.....as i said before when i talk about this tingleing to friends they look at me and sorta snicker...but i know its there. and when max acted the way she did. LOOKING OVER MY SHOULDER WHEN IT HAPPEND THAT DAY..AND SHE STILL DOES TODAY...when i aske her if she sees it, she always climbs onto my lap and presses herself as close as she can to me She sees something and i am feeling something..i am not crazy the tingleing is real and so is the effect this thing has on my dog...she still sometimes wont look at me but i keep telling her that its ok that this thing is good and its helping me become a better person. i think she is coming around just today she looked over my shoulder and back at me , then back at it, it has been very active today and i told her its ok and she acted like she knew what i was talking about.....well that is my take on my tingling...any feed back would be appriciated.
