My parents have smoked my whole life in the car, the house etc. So I have obviously suffered greatly from second-hand smoke. A few years ago I started smoking faggs not too many and not too often, I also smoked weed I guess you could say often, the year before last and lasts year I smoked hookah like everyday then every other. Last year I suffered from chronic bronchitis and every morning- I now don't smoke etc. I spit up phlegm and this has been going on for about two years so....

I irrigate with a warm water/salt solution daily. This relieves my condition. Must do upon raising and before sleep. Over a period of time an extreme relief from the phlegm. Must stay with it. Once you are relieved with no more Phlegm do not keep up the program. It has other benefits, like cold and allergy reduction which we are exposed to daily. It is a good defense. Purchase a netti pot and the salt should be free from iodine. Certain drug stores carry the product including the salt ration in packages.

I suffer from extremely thick mucus, so thick I cannot blow my nose, nothing comes out. It's from exposure to pollution. My dentist said it sounds like I've lost the cilia necessary to deal with mucus in my nasal passages, or I only produce one kind of mucus now but the average person produces two.

I have been suffering with chest phlegm for about 5 years now during the winter, but the last year it has been year around. I take mucinex constantly. I was diagnosed with asthma at the beginning of this journey 5 years ago. I'm only slightly allergic to ash maples. I have post nasal drip alot. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis that's not active now. I have hypothyroidism. I take astelin, nasonex, singulair, asmanex, nexium, synthroid, rescue inhaler xopenex, mucinex as needed. I have been to my PCM, ENT, entomologist, Asthma & Allergy doctors and my RA doctor. My allergist says its not asthma and allergy related she thinks its uncontrolled GERD. My entomologist says its not GERD. Everybody says its not what they specialize in so I'm getting the run around with no relief. I've had dizzy sinus spells for 10 years that nasonex helps but my sinuses are all good. I've been sent to specialities in 4 states where we've lived (military). I've been in this last state for 1 1/2 years and will be staying here. My parents were chain smokers growing up so I inhaled lots of second hand smoke. The chest phlegm is clear. I don't hardly ever cough unless its extremely bad and the mucinex starts working then ill cough a little or feel like I'm clearing my lungs like you do your throat. I've had bronchitis twice in my life, the last time 5 years ago. I had pneumonia about 4 years ago but the dr said later they aren't sure I actually had pneumonia that I had a shadow on my X-ray they think instead of pneumonia. I've had one ear infection in my entire life for the past 30 years. I don't think I ever had them as a small kid either. My lung muscles/chest muscles get really sore after a bad attack for a couple days. My asthma numbers are always the same. I think I've cleared all the basics. Anyone have these problems?

Sounds logical. I will try the fasting (as soon as I get off this awful prednizone). Thanks.

Yo think about this 10 years of smoking and being a retard vs 1 month of quitting. Math doesn’t add up when you think about it. Smoked for 120 months and you expect 1 month or even 1 and a half to magically just have your sh*t go back to normal? Should have thought about that as you smoked gl ever getting decent lungs back. Thank god for Darwinism, kind of an ironic sentence there....

I used to have thick yellow mucus for years, lots of times I found it hard to breathe, a few weeks ago I found a cure for me, every time I visit the bathroom I stand with my head over the washbasin, do a little cough, then straight after do the same in my throat as if I was gargling, just one gargle, this clears my throat, any mucus that comes from my throat now is clear and getting less of it. I hope this helps someone else as I know how hard it is living with thick mucus all the time.
