I am 30 weeks pregnant and I have a small metal rod in my mouth holding in a crown, well in the last 4 or 5 weeks it has started to feel like there is preassure by it and then last week I got a pimple above that tooth. I popped it and it was fine and then this morning it returned. I have no pain, no fever, nothing preventing me from eating or sleeping. Is it possible that this infection is due to my gums swelling from pregnancy? I don't have a dentists as I am currently on Medicaid and they take months to get into if you ever happen to find one. I had the rod put in probably about a year ago and never had any problems until pregnancy. My gums often swell and bleed with pregnancy. There is no dying nerve as the tooth has already been root canalled. My Dr is out of the office for the week. I put in a call to a nurse to see if they could just write me a perscription for an antibiotic but they have to talk to her or her staff so it could be Monday before i hear anything. Should I be really worried about having an infection since i am pregnant?
