I'm a 31 year old woman, overweight but otherwise healthy, with three children.

I just found a fleshy mass on my sanitary napkin. It is about the size and shape of a watermelon seed, but is reddish black. This is not just a blood clot. When I tried to squeeze it, it didn't pop or absorb into the toilet paper I was holding it with, but it did compress. I wonder if it is a polyp.

Last month I had bleeding 12 days after my period. I have never had abnormal or mid-cycle bleeding before.

Should I contact my Gyn?

Yes, you should certainly contact your gynecologist and have it examined.

It is true that cervical polyps cause bleeding in between periods and it also happens that they come off during menstruation or intercourse.
Polyps are benign but may be confused with some cancerous growths if they are too small.
Considering your fell off alone, it is probably nothing dangerous but I would still see a gyn to see if there’s more and use this to have a regular check up.

In case you saved the polyp, you should take it for examination. It is highly unlikely that this polyp will grow back but different polyps mat grow from different cervical areas.
