I have had this for a number of months now and people I have asked seem to think that it is the fluid that surrounds bones/joints that is getting displaced. That is what the bubbling may be. Not sure what the pain maybe.

Hey I have the same feeling although it's almost like there is a sore right under my left rib... I think the best bet would be endoscopy.. My doctor said the popping and pain could be ulcers or gerd... Which would make sense but I still have to go have that done and I suggest all of you with those popping and sore pains, go have you esophagus and stomach checked!!!

I have exactly the same problem as the original poster. I looked into the Precordial catch syndrome, but thats not it. Thats on the left side and only comes in episodes of max 30min. This thing bothers me sometimes the whole day! It's definetely worse when lying down and the gurgling is not a constant, it comes and goed. Also the pain is very iratic, however the location is always exactly the same place. I've had muscle cramps alongside it, just from reacting to the pain. I feel sure, hwoever, that the pain is not from a muscle. I'm gonna check out if it might be a Hiatus Hernia. These possible symptoms overlap most with mine:

"• Chronic strong pain / discomfort in your chest• gurgling noises in your chest. ...Your symptoms may start or get worse after eating, while lying down or when you bend forward. ...The pain increases when the patients stoops with efforts and lies down. ...But in most cases a hiatal hernia does not cause any symptoms. ...The pain and discomfort experienced by sufferers is due to the reflux of gastric acid, air or bile."

The stupid thing is most doctors think the symptoms for this have to be problems with food getting stuck, regurgitating acid etc. However, this doesn't have to be the case. Apparantely some people dont even get any symptoms. So, it's a tip to get that checked maybe too.

I'm so glad I found this because its so hard to explain it happens to me when I get up fast like after I wake up. It also happens to me if I sneeze or cough it's a very uncomfortable feeling with a little pain I was taking to a couple mommies and they said they had to when they were pregnant.

Melissa, I have the exact same thing. I feel pressure on the back of my right rib. I take a deep breath, which intensifies the pressure, it then pops and goes away. At times though, after it cracks, my right lat or mid back feels irate.

I am 13 and asthmatic ( I have astma). This happens a bunch to me as well. It feels like a bubble and when I inhale it gets larger and larger until it "pops" and that is painful. I really don't know what is going on but I am glad I am not alone. Good luck!

It's not Catch Syndrom. That is on left side and uncommon in adults. If you have a gallbladder, ask for a Hida scan with the follow-up hormone test that is like 3 tripple cheese burgers. If its not gallbladder, do a liver cleanse.

I'm 35 and started getting a sharp pain in the back of my right lung when I was 22.  The pain is always in the same place and has come and gone many times over the years.  There has only been a half dozen times when I have felt the bubble actually burst (today being one of them).  Currently I have the sharp pain plus a dull ache around the whole right lung.  One thing I have noticed is that smoking and drinking can bring the pain back and/or make it worse.

Wow.  I'm so glad that I read these comments.  This has been happening to me my entire life.  I'm extremely athletic, 27, no allergies and never get sick.  I would discribe it as a sharp, needle like pain in my chest that increases in intensity as I breath is too much or breath out too much (it's like I'm limited to 2/5 - 4/5 of lung capacity).  I've noticed it occurs when I'm at rest (usually sitting) which makes me think it's posture related.  I've always read crazy diagnosis's but PRECORDIAL CATCH SYNDROME is definitely it.  That you to whoever posted that.

It's called Precordial Catch Syndrome (PCS) and it's nothing to worry about. MDs aren't exactly sure why it happens, and it doesn't indicate an underlying illness. It could be some form of myalgia.

I was having a physical therapy treatment for my lower back and during some stretching from my underarm and hip I felt a pop around my rib cage. The pain started later and am having trouble sleeping or functioning during the day without tight support on the area. I was told it was probably cartilage around the rib that moved. No x-rays were ordered but deep breathing, raising arms, or anything that would indicate a broken rib does not bring on the pain. I would really love to know how to get rid of this pain.
