Same is the case with my dad. He had kidney stone removed last Tuesday and since then he is experiencing huge blood loss, constant pain in his back and chest. He is not able to fall asleep even. Worst part is his sugar level is not normal due to which he can't be given juices and other sugary energy drinks! He actually had 5 stones. Doctor has removed only one with some laser surgery and now rest 4 are still there. Now, doctors are asking to perform another operation for which my dad is not at all ready. We also can't see him like this. We actually can't decide whether to get him operated again as he is already in lot of pain after his first surgery. I have seen your reply and its been around 1 year since you have posted this over here.....I would be thankful if you could tell as to what is your present situation since your case is much similar to my dad's.
Hi I just had a kidney stone removal surgery on Thursday they did not put in a stent but since I've been home my back is bruised and hurts really really bad it hurts to take a deep breath is that what you experienced I'm trying to decide if I should contact the doctor or just wait it out also I'm not able to go to the restroom so I stop the pain medication
hyperparathyroidism is probably the case.
What kind of kidney stones were these?!
I completely agree, the doctors/nurses told me I'd have a small sting in my back for a few days after surgery, but I have had a whole new pain right before I urinate. I almost can't make it to the bathroom and I had the surgery somebody around 14 hours ago. Hydrocodine helps a little, but even previously to when I was in the hospital morphine didn't make any difference. Just wanted to let anyone know who comes looking. Almost not worth the surgery as of right now, the pain is constant and I have to sleep in a certain position, there is no getting comfortable.
I was told by a,urologist they have diffefent size stents. Using the wrong one causes you alot of pain. I know been there. I told nee urologist i refuse to do anotber stent. Thats whrmen he told me they used wrong size which causes pain.
It is painful
Have to add this. I am a retired RN and my husband had bladder stone lithotripsy on Wed. and has had two miserable days of pain, bleeding and was sent home with just Tylenol, no antibiotics! I called on Thurs and was told to buy over the counter AZ0 which is mild pyridium, no improvement. He passed blood and fainted this am. We spent 6am to 1pm in the hospital and he was given IV fluids and an antibiotic IV, sent home with Rx for oral antibiotics for 14 days from a new UTI. Very bad care in my opinion and we live in North Idaho just for your info. It sounds as if these patients are not told the truth of how post op will actually be. I suggest that you have anyone know who needs this surgery to read up on it and insist on something for pain and bladder spasms.
Urinating through the string of the thread puts me on my tippy toes and I completely agree with you. I fear each time that I have to urinate through this. My 7th stent and I'm only 29. I have passed over 200 calcium oxalate stones freely. The ones that haven't passed have all been over 20mm. They chalk it up to, "You're just unfortunate, sir."
I used FloMax and Toradol and got wonderful relief for the pain. Mine was a 6mm but it was stuck at the opening from the ureter to the bladder. Dr went in and plucked it out without laser. I'm a female and I'm now having the urgency to urinate like a bladder infection. Are these spasms? I just had the procedure today.
That's not what I'm dealing with the pain is terrible after surgery it's been 1 week since surgery and the pain is still a 7 spasms are horrific I'm downing the pain meds 2 at a time can't wait till this pain goes away. Been hospitalized twice since I had the surgery.
it goes away.... eventually. I am feeling effects 2 weeks later. Weird muscle spasms in my head and left arm.
I have a 3mm stone its stuck doctor wants to do surgery up the pee hole. I can't take pain meds for another issue am I going to be in alot of pain and where at?
I too had the same
research your doctor first, and watch for doctors who are so full of themselves that they talk down to you like they did to me.I had 4 kidney stones in me they took out two when I was told he was going to take out all 4. they stuck a tube in my back then removed two stones well they missed one of the two or missed one all together. I had surgery in November 30th 2016 my post op visit was on December 5th my post op visit turned into a surgery. never had a post op visit because it turned into a surgery. I was supose to have a 2 week recovery I'm still not back to work and can't walk lift stuff my side hurts every day 7-10 pain level from November to date. the doctor also concealed the two stones in the top of my kidney I didn't find out about those stones till I had my second cat scan on December 19th. my experience has been horrible dean was the provider Dr. kopnik was my urologist he sucked he profiled me, then abandoned me, he was so unprofessional. and remember doctors cover for one another like cops. I'm not trying to scare you I'm just trying to prevent what happened to me to have it happen to someone else. if you have the same surgery as me when they put that die in you to see if it will drain into your bladder and if it does not do no I repeat do not let them put you at an angle and shake the table to try to get it to drain that is what happened to me I was no longer walking after that. again I'm not trying to scare you just giving you some advice watch facial expressions when asking questions to that tells a lot about the doctor. when people look up and to the right or left it is a lie. I hope your opperation goes good best wishes my kidney stone friend.
