It's not your gallbladder. I have the same problem - sometimes for quite some time. Then I can be fine for quite some time also. Mostly I have abdominal problems of some sort. I had my galgallbladder out about 15 or more years ago. It was a problem - a big problem, but it wasn't the cause of the problem we are having this conversation about. Don't bother with your doctor on this one. My advice if you can afford it is to try a reputable naturopath or nutritionist. If you have since discovered the cause, I would love to know myself. Good luck.

Hi has anyone got a answer to this yet? Mine started when i was 25 but only after I drank alcohol. I had my gallbladder removed and that didn't help.. i continued drinking for 5 more years until it was unbearable if i drank i couldn't even finish a drink and it would happen thin the pane went in to my kidneys. I began to instantly black out from the alcohol before i could even finish 1 drink.. I quite drinking and everything went away I haven't drank alcohol for 5 years and in that time i have not experienced any of the pain or discomfort i felt when I was drinking.. but last night out of the blue it started up 24 hrs later it feels just like it used to. Extremely uncomfortable feeling under my rib on the right side... i haven't touched a drop of alcohol in 5 years. im going in to the doctors on monday 2 days away but if this doesn't ez up by tomorrow i will go in to the Er.. any one now what may be going on with us..

I am so sorry to hear that so many people have this same issue and no one can figure out what it is. I went in for a colonoscopy Thursday and it came back clear. Having a endoscopy on Thursday to see if something shows up there. Another possibility might be hepatic flexure syndrome. It's something that I am going to talk to my doctor about. Good luck everyone!!

Had the same symptoms, did a colonoscopy and a endoscopy, was diagnosed with H. Pylori and was prescribed, Amoxicillin 500mg 2 tablets daily twice a day, Omeprazole, and another medication. Mind you I didn't drink for 30 days also. Took it for a month. After the medication was done the weird pressure came back. Still have no idea what it is.

I have been suffering from this issue that you are all writing about for about a year, on and off, currently on, which is very frustrating and uncomfortable. I have read all of these posts and have come up with an idea that I am experimenting with, so hear me out. I see some patterns in the discussion and I have looked at all of my own complaints. I began keeping a food/health diary last year at about this time and it has helped to see my own patterns. This past weekend I began chewing my food more, since I tend to eat very quickly. I also stopped carbonated water, which is my preference to plain water. I am also trying to drink more water/liquids since I tend to not drink much at all during the day, just at night since I run a school and teach and am crazy busy all day. I also cut down on my portions and am eating much more slowly. So far in two days my bloating has decreased and also that ball or baby's foot under my ribs. I am a pescatarian (vegetarian who eats fish) and normally am quite gassy and have 2 to 4 BM's per day (which I read is normal for a vegetarian). Since I changed things, I notice I am not as gassy and my BM's have lessened. I am staying away from known gassy foods also, and from drinking out of straws. I am thinking these are gas pockets that get stuck in our large intestines which causes our discomfort and bloating in the evenings. I don't know if I am on to anything but I am trying this before begging my gastro doc to run more tests, of which nothing showed last year except for a slightly fatty liver, which is hereditary in my family (I don't drink). I will continue posting if anyone's interested as I move along this path. I work also with wild and domestic animals and was wondering about parasites, but I will explore that if this idea doesn't work. Oh, and anxiety - that also contributes to tightness in the upper abdomen, so with all of us worrying about this condition, I expect that is part of the problem as well.

Don't know if you're still on here. But I literally am dealing with everything you said. My anxiety has gotten so bad I'm afraid to eat. Is that really a thing? Ugh! Have you found anything to relieve your issues yet?

Hi there . Just wondering if you ever got to the bottom of your problem.

I had that pain that began in my lower quadrant and wrapped around to my back kidney area. I went through dozens of tests: pulled muscle, kidney stones, costochondritis, gastritis - I had a lower GI, Upper GI, X-rays, CAT scan, etc.... until finally one doctor did a Hida Scan which showed that my GALLBLADDER was not functioning. The pain that I put up with for over three years was a bad gallbladder - once it was removed (3 small puncture wounds in my belly), the pain forever left. So, check out your gallbladders!

I wrote about a month ago about my little experiment with how I eat and I wanted to give an update. Also, for fellow sufferers, some more info on me medically. I am post menopausal and also just had my ovaries out last summer. Estrogen loss may have something to do with this, but....I also began taking an enzyme that I got at the health food store along with much stronger probiotics than I normally take and within a week, my symptoms subsided and now I rarely get that "ball" or "baby's foot" feeling under my ribs unless I overeat at a meal. I also am no longer gassy and bloated! So for me I think it was the digestive enzymes that helped me digest my food better and I'm sure the probiotics really helped. The probiotic I use has 42 billion organisms in it, not the 1 billion that I was getting at the local supermarket. If I have any more news I will share, since this is a frustrating situation for many of us who can't figure it out.
