I realize that most of these posts were over a year ago but I'm curious if anyone figured out what the problem was. Within the past week I have been getting an annoying feeling on my right side just below my rib cage as well as a pain just below that (kind of where the groin is but closer to hip bone) and in my back on right side. I have also been getting nauseous. I was so frustrated and worried about it that the other day, I took myself to the hospital to get it checked out. They did a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvis, took blood work and did a transvaginal ultrasound to check my ovaries. Everything came back ok with the exception of a little fibroid by my ovaries and a corpus luteum cyst in my ovaries (which can be common for women within their mid cycle until they get their period.. as I was told).
They instructed me to follow up with my gastro, so I did. I saw him the next day, he said the feelings that I have been having could be from many things but he said that my stomach seemed fine and that this could be a pain caused by my Multiple Sclerosis or it may just be I may have to go to the "bathroom" and told me to go on a low FODMAP diet as well as take miralax for a week and take my acid reflux medication (that I haven't taken in a while) and probiotic. So, I'm now on day 2 of taking The miralax and took my acid reflux med last night. Today I will start the probiotic as well as the low FODMAP diet. So far feeling is still there and there have been no changes. In the meantime, I am having major anxiety and have become quite depressed and frustrated over this situation. No one seems to know what is going on and why I feel the way I do. My husband suggested that maybe I try seeing an orthopedic and see if they are able to help me since I have the pain in my hip as well as back. I have an appointment tomorrow and I pray that they can resolve this issue.
Like I had mentioned before, I realize that the majority of these posts were well over a year ago but if ANYONE can provide any insight or say what their problem was, I would greatly appreciate it. I feel like I am having a true meltdown and I have been told numerous times by my husband not to do any internet research because I tend to self-diagnose myself as I know some of you had said you do. Thank you!

I went to my gastro and he seems to think it's IBS... is it really that? I'm not sure. He instructed me to go on a low FODMAP diet and take miralax for a week which I have been doing and not seeing any results so far (it has been 4 days since I saw him). He also mentioned that I should take a probiotic and my acid reflux med which I have to admit I haven't done. I will today though and hope that it will help. I also went to orthopedic and he said that he doesn't see anything when it comes to my back and bones. He thinks the pain from my back is muscle related. I'm going to another gastro on Monday to see if they could provide any insight on the situation. Honestly, I just want to do every test to figure this out because as I had mentioned in my previous post, my anxiety is up the roof and not to mention I want to feel better but I guess that goes without saying.
If you don't mind me asking, why did you get your gallbladder removed?

Good news everyone, I too have had those symptoms and the Doctor told me right off from the start that it seemed like a Muscular Symptom... He gave me muscle spasm and Muscle relaxers and even pain pills.
I took them and they helped.
I went to see my mom and she suggested I used a heating pad on site and in the last 3 days, It is almost gone.
I hope and pray all this works out for you all. I know its such a scary and weird feeling.
God Bless.

I have the same issues and my Primary Dr. went the route of the gall bladder issue too, but test were negative and he still felt I should remove the gall bladder; however, my thyroid Dr.'s testing showed I had a high iron level which prompted an iron panel testing and led to the diagnosis of "Hereditary Compound Heterozygous Hemochromatosis". Hemochromatosis is an excess build up of iron in the body, which is harmful to the organs like liver, pancreas, heart, etc. To rid the body of this excess iron they drain my blood every other week (phlebetomy). I have noticed an increase in energy level since the phlebotomies started as I was experiencing a very tired and run down feeling, which I originally thought was the thyroid issue. I'm only 3 phlebotomies in, so other than to say my skin is three shades lighter and my energy level has picked up slightly the week following the phlebotomies, I'm still new with this diagnosis.

As someone with similar issues and line of testing with no results, my thyroid doctor ran some blood work that showed I had an elevated iron level. He sent me to the hematologist for an iron panel and they ran the genetic test for hemochromatosis, of which I tested positive. I was diagnosed with "hereditary compound heterozygous hemochromatosis", but no one in my family had ever been diagnosed before me that I could find. This causes an excess of iron to build up in the body and causes harm to all the organs, like liver, heart, pancreas, etc. Since I was just recently diagnosed, I am still doing a lot of research. I find that there is a connection between this disease and hypothyroidism, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, parkinson's disease, fibromyalgia, and many other. If diagnoses early they can reduce organ damage by doing phlebotomies to get rid of the iron. I have had 3 so far. You may want to check this out and compare it with your issues as it is very often overlooked until autopsy time.

To all that have this difficulty....one doctor told me that the tightness or pressure that i feel is IBS. I do notice that when I go the bathroom, the right side of the upper abdomen almost hurts. This is located, yes, under the rib on the right where the liver is.
I also have a fatty liver and was told to lose weight which is difficult because i really do not know how to lose weight effectively since it usually comes back after much work...so This Is a Problem!! I also feel a quiver that the last person talked about and even a feeling of a contraction!
There is no Doctor that is able to diagnosis THIS, I believe, because their research if dominated by using animals instead of indepth CLINICAL STUDIES, NON-INVASIVE, THAT WOULD LEAD US TO FASTER ANSWERS TO OUR HEALTH.

HELLO, I JUST READ YOUR 2 MONTH OLD MESSAGE. I AM ABOUT TO DO A SIBO TEST WHICH IS A BREATHE TEST. DOCTORS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH TODAY. I HAVE CALLED HIM A FEW TIMES TELLING HIM, AFTER I DID AN ENDOSCOPY AND COLONOSCOPY, THAT I HAVE SEVERE PRESSURE IN MY UPPER INTESTINAL AREA, FRONT AND BACK, THAT FOCUSES ON THE RIGHT UPPER QUADRANT AREA. HE WAS SORT OF FORCED TO LOOK THROUGH THE RESULTS AND CAME ACROSS THE FOLLOWING: METHANE AND HYDROGEN. SO I WILL BE TAKING THIS HOME SIBO/BREATHE TEST THIS WEEK BECAUSE I HAVE SUSPECTED FOR A LONG TIME THAT I HAVE AN OVER PRODUCTION OF BACTERIA IN THE TRACT..AND THIS IS NOT GOOD!
ALSO, HAVE YOU HAD A PAP SMEAR? SOMETIMES, SOME OF THESE PROBLEMS CAN ORIGINATE FROM FEMALE PROBLEMS THAT WE ARE NOT AWARE OF YET.
PLEASE RESPOND IF YOU HAVE A MOMENT.

It's a scary and weird feeling, and because so many are sent for so many test their anxiety about it only grows, as does their focus on it, which increases the pain from the stress and the worry.
There are literally hundreds of these posts and others like it on other sites, and the many tests lead to no conclusions. Which leads to only one conclusion: that this is a stress induced problem, a "flight or fight or freeze" reflex, which causes contraction of muscles and the nerves within the muscles; hence, the tightness leading to pain and the pressure feeling which are nerves being smashed.
I had all these symptoms, and I went through all the tests, and I finally had to draw the conclusion that I was suffering from an anxiety disorder. I had had clues all along, like a crick in the neck and even a strange bulge in my shoulder when I was under extreme stress. I was literally getting my back up. Once you get sensitized to the pain and become afraid of it it takes on a life of its own.
Does this mean you're mentally ill? No, it means you're human.
The poster above got a simple dx for the problem and took proper medication to tamp it down. Often a doctor won't recognize the problem as anxiety and will create more of it telling a patient that they may have MS or a fatty liver or a diseased gallbladder or a bad spine. Sometimes, rarely, this is the cause of the pain. But think about it: all these people with the same mystery illness and no apparent physical cause? Just THINK about it.

I have the same symptoms. A CT scan showed diverticulosis. Dr said to eat lots of fiber and exercise and it has gotten much better. I did not have much fiber in my diet before. I would recommend trying these 2 things.

That's exactly what I feel! I end up having to stick my elbow I to my sides to relive the feeling, but of course I can't stay like that forever. Did you ever figure it out?

It's called humor. All hypochon's self diagnose themselves with the worst. They were just humorously admitting they feared the worst and didn't run to the doc. Lighten up.
