I'm going to definitely note when I get the pimple like sore by my mouth. This last week was extremely stressful and I have the sore again. I only get it sporadically and in the exact same place. I'm going to try cortisone. Usually it eventually goes away after a couple weeks. Thanks for sharing.

I have these right now. I've had them several other times. I get 7-10 at once on my lower face, neck and chest. A possibility could be that these are caused by yeast. The reason I say that is because normally I take a lot of probiotics to keep yeast at bay, and never had them when I was on probiotics. Recently I stopped the probiotics for a month, and then they appeared. The spots seem to be attached to a nerve ending. I say this because last year I had the shingles and these spots are very single to a single shingle spot and pinch on the nerve the same way. So, my hypothesis at this time is that it is yeast playing havoc with a nerve. Stress would be a part of this perfect storm as well. I would suggest eating fermented vegetables every day or Kefir to get probiotics in your body. Real sauerkraut from whole foods or trader joes is best. Start with a table spoon a day and up your dose gradually until you are eating a half cup a day. It will create health miracles. It will also keep your immune system strong. I have an auto immune disease so I am easy to get sick, but have not had a cold since I have been eating the veggies for 2 years. You can also learn to make your own sauerkraut or kimchi at home.

Ps- you need to keep up the probiotics for life. If you stop problems will re-emerge after some time

I know this post was a long time ago but ive found these red bumps to be the result of being deficient in Vitamin D through a blood test. 5000 IUs of vitamin D3 daily has cured so many irritating symptoms that i had including this mysterious "acne". Hope this helps someone out there.

I too have this only on my chin once in a while on my temple or forehead. Seems as one heal a, another starts. And then clears, they hurt! They feel like a pimple but hurt and never really pop.. just a watery discharge. I've tried everything!! Soaps, expensive creams, baking soda, green tree oil, vitamin e, d3, hot compress, wart remover, alcohol, Epson salt, anti fungal creams, scabies medication, hydrogen peroxide, acne medication, everything... I have researched every skin disease, conditions and none of the symptoms match up. I believe it could be stress...I have noticed when I decided to subject my self to a tanning bed ten min. Twice a week...I work outside and in a greenhouse ..as I tan..they disappear.. mine are only a few under the skin lumps that hurt and end up cracking open..just trying to scar up my face. I'm at the end of my rope, I love my skin, and have been blessed with nice skin except the past year n a half this every few weeks..I'm going to the ER, only because they will take a scrape of it and can test the infection and hopefully have an answer for me asap..so I can treat it. When this breaks out, I don't leave the house..it's gross and very noticeable..plus I can't friggin leave alone..trying everything to get rid of..I make it worse. I'll let you all know what they say. Ugh!!

I will be very brief. I am 28/Male and have had the following occurrences over the past few years. Reading this entire post, I realized that many people here are describer the same thing, but differ in some ways. I will describe my case and maybe you can relate. This starter a few years ago for me.

1. I get occasional red swells right at the sideburns, sometimes at both sides, and it's mostly everything we have all been describing: large swellings without any heads. I typically just let these ride out because I usually have hair around my side burns and you can't see it.

2. Sometimes I get the same thing but on my cheek, either side. Sometimes very close to my mouth (about 1/2" and sometimes further out towards my ear) - It's always one and rarely two swellings and they are always round, pink-red, and pretty big in size and without a head.

3. And very rarely, I get sorta the same thing under my chin. I can feel it being there, but its never as round as the once on my cheek. I really dont care about these but you can't see them and they just go away. I don't have these many swellings anywhere else like some people here (ie eye brows, around nose etc)

My initial reaction to these a few years back was acne. When attempted to squeeze, it would never be successful and would make it a lot worse, no matter how hard I tried ( and I have tried pretty hard since it pissed me off badly one time) SO DONT F SQUEEZE IT. But it's not your regular acne. For me, it is also not related to food or an allergy. My died has been the same for the past 4 or 5 years and these things come out randomly with almost a year between breakouts.

I just got one breakout 3 days ago (haven't had any in almost 6 months). Started with 2 tiny and sharp spots of itch on my cheek, and when you press on it, you can feel it even more. I knew right away that its coming again. One never brokeout, but the other one next it did.

What I realized that it is directly related to stress. Last weekend I was very down and I internalized a lot of personal turmoil and stress. To my friends, I appeared as just having a bad day, but inside I was coping with A LOT. I am usually a very positive person, I don't let much get to me and am very physically active. But sometimes I have these days when the world comes crashing down and I find myself internalizing stress. Coincidentally, and the end of the day of me being internally stressed, the reaction started on my face. Now that I think back to when I had these breakouts, I remember going through some bad internal state.

And now I am convinced that it's nothing else but triggered by internalizing stress for me. I have had my one bump on my cheek for the past 3 days and will try the hot water compression method before I finally go the doctor and get them to look at it, although I know that it will go away on it's own.

Will post in a few days.

Good luck.

My daughter had the same thing, we went to the doctor because nothing helped clear it up, he give her a prescription for a deoterant she put on before bed that stopped her from sweating. It cleared up after she started using that on regular basis, it did make her itch after it was on for about 15 min, that lasted about 15-20 min then went away but it's worth the minor annoyance for a few minutes to clear this up. Hope this helps someone who may have the same problem even though this is so long after the original post.

Sounds like what my mom used to call "Period Pimples".... coming around tthe time just before menstruation going away after it's over. Do not squeeze these as unlike "zits" they don't pop. You will end up with a big red, swollen lump area 5 x bigger than it was. Just leave it alone, wash as usual with warm compresses. It's just a hormonal thing that unfortunately comes with the territory.
