Everyone,

STOP EVERYTHING YOU ARE DOING, and read this carefully.

You are here because, like me, we have all experienced most of the symptoms described by everyone here. There are some differences between some of descriptions, but in general, there is a common theme. Read the title.

After suffering from various facial bumps and redness's since early 20's, I have landed on this forum where I found people discussing what in the hell is going on. I knew that what ever was causing the bumps on my face wasn't the same as teens go through. After reading multiple theories from users who believed they have had a cure or way to get rid of the bumps, I have come to realize that none of them really worked.

I went as far as trying the poke theory suggested by someone where you freeze the bumps with ice cubes and numb the skin, and then take a needle and puncture the bump to release the accumulation of whatever the hell was inside. That sort of worked, but I found myself poking my face almost everyday and in some cases the bumps would not become smaller. In cases where they would, they would make it back on my face only a few days later.

That was about a year ago.

Fast forward to right now, I know exactly what and why I was getting them, and I am about to tell you how you can too, never have those bumps appear on your face ever again. So pay attention.

Despite all of my efforts into finding out what caused my face to get these bumps, I could never find the culprit, until the beginning of 2016. Being in my late 20s now, I have decided to take on a body cleanse. I recently started smoking again after quitting for several years and I only had the cravings to smoke every time I consumed alcohol. So to stop smoking again, I knew I had to lay off the alcohol consumption during the fazing out period. To help me with the craving for either smoke or alcohol, I decide to stop sugar intake as well which would ultimately act as the reward mechanism for my brain. I have done this before when I quite smoking the first time. Quitting smoking, alcohol and sugar intake all at once, allowed me to confuse the craving and not have a specific desire. When the craving for either one of those things was getting out of hand, I would indulge in a sweet treat such a candy or some thing sweet and the satisfaction would suffice the entire sensation of all the cravings combined. That method right there allowed me to not want to smoke or drink anything for the entire duration of my cleanse without any mental obstacles.

And this is how I discovered what the hell was going on with my face.

At the time when I started my 30 day cleanse, I still had c**p on my face. Painful and red bumps on my sideburns (not very big but covering a larger area) and also a bigger bump to the right side of my mouth which appeared about a week before, right after the one on the other side of the mouth deflated. And about two weeks into the cleanse, I notice a very big change in how my face felt. The bumps on the sideburns began to lower and the bump on the cheek stopped hurting but it was still inflated. At this point in the cleanse I no longer had craving for either of the three so I stopped consuming any more sugar.

4 weeks into the cleanse, my face was clear.

It turns out that it was the SUGAR intake all along and let me tell you why because I have spent several week since then trying to understand the reasons, and it turns out that SUGAR is a lot worse than any of us knew or have been told.

I have a very high metabolism where I consume a lot of calories and because I always stay very active I don't really gain any weight (I have been at 165lbs for several years and I am 6 feet tall). Not gaining any weight always allowed me to get away with consuming lots of sugar and not get fat. It was a win win for me, I ate sweets and the sweets allowed to have the energy I needed to stay active. But what I learned about sugar in the last several days, explains how it exactly impacted my system.

Without going too deep into the explanation of sugar, I will tell you the following:
- There is the good kind and bad kind.
- You have glucose (the good kind). When you get it in your system by eating starchy foods (potatoes, rice etc), breads and pasta and this sugar is essential to your health and energy because it goes straight into your blood and is consumed by all the cells in your system. Overdoing this might still cause problems, such as higher than normal insulin levels which is there to bond with the glucose.
- And then you have fructose (the bad kind). When you get it in your system by consuming sucrose (the white sugar we all know) and any other processed sugars added to most drinks and foods, found most common type being High Fructose Corn Syrup (which is half glucose and half fructose).
- And then you have other types of sugars such is lactose and galactose but they are not as potent or bad.

Your body IS NOT DESIGNED to handle large doses of FRUCTOSE and it leads to lots of health issues. In our collective case, the excess is fructose/glucose consumption is expressed in the face bumps.

Next time you buy a drink, look at the sugar amount and the ingredients. Chances are that you will see a lot more grams of sugar than you ever expected. Next time you buy anything with a label and about to eat it, look at the sugar amount. You will be surprised by how much sugar is found in most of the groceries that people buy on daily bases. When you start adding it all up, all the sugars consumed during a day from products, juices, drinks, snacks etc, you will realize that you are taking waaaay to much sugar in, and lost of it is fructose.

A healthy dose of sugar per day is less than 24 grams for women and less than 36 grams for men. I guarantee you each and everyone of you takes a hell of a lot more per day than that. (Even if you don't drink sodas as much or eat regular candy)

WHEN YOU STOP CONSUMING ALL SUGARS (not just sodas as you were told), YOUR FACE WILL CLEAR. It worked for me and I have explained you why.

Now that to get you going on deeper into the rabbit hole, look up why sugar is bad for you. There are numerous informative videos on youtube that explain why. Seriously, look it up.

At the time I am writing this, I have been clear for 2 months and I fell better than ever. Face is clear and confidence up.

I wish you all well and may you all have a healthy lifestyle.

So basically the whole candy gives you zits is right. Which I have been saying since I was a teen and all the adults would say it's a phase you'll grow out of it. B/S It's the SUGAR. Please don't be mad, but I feel like I was all ready to read some amazing new findings only to hear what I could of told you eons ago. Although you went full on kicking all those things at once, because even individually each of those things can exacerbate acne. But absolutely if you flush your body you'll be amazed by a lot of things. Like the way colors are more vibrant and things smell more fragrant and food has more taste. Right?

I apologize if I disappointing you, but after trying everything imaginable to get rid of the bumps and suddenly finding out what exactly caused it for me, I felt very ecstatic and obligated to share this with everyone who I knew suffered as well. If that post can help at least one person, then I know it was purposeful.

Your news is great news! I apologize to take wind from the sails (if I did). I guess once you get in your 40's and you realize HOW MUCH of what you took on blind faith, or by what you were taught in school, or at work in your youth- you get jaded. But your news is good and I'm happy for you :) Happy for anyone that finds clear skin after a lifetime of feeling ashamed in public. Because that's how acne made me feel. Turns out some people have over productive sebacious glands and their bodies make this goo that is trapped sub dermally and cause physical pain. I took a chance on Acutane in my 20's and it was a miracle. It's a story in itself. But I can relate to both sides and although it might seem snarky (my earlier post) but I can relate. :)

I think mine are so stress related but a doctor won't tell me that! In my early thirties and never had a problem with my skin until the last year. Dermatologist after dermotologist! What do I do?

This is the orginal poster of that message and I thought I would follow up.It's been almost 4 months now and everything is still well. This is the longest I have been without my face having the red bumps or any other facial ssues and it is all due to me reducing added sugar intake to almost zero (across all products).
I still consume lots starchy foods that eventually convert to glucose metabolically, but that doesn't seem to have a negative effect what so ever.

Hi! I have the bumps described in this thread and started taking a solodyn about two weeks ago. They seemed to have slowed but I just got two more! It's very frustrating. Does this mean the medication isn't working for me?

This sounds like perioral dermatitis. It is a very uncomfortable rash that starts with the hot/ burning sensation as the first noticeable symptom. Then, shortly after, you notice a bumpy rash that can also take on the appearance of individual pimples that never come to a head. For me, applying any kind of cream burns quite a bit as well as sweating during working out. It can occur around your eyes, too. It makes sense that it would go away with antibiotic use because that is one way to treat it. Once you get it, it can and usually does, recur. Using face creams with AHA's or Retin A can bring it on, as well as facial peels or microdermabrasions and weather changes. My dermatologist has also said it may be related to rocasea. There is a cream, metrodiazole, that the dermatologist can prescribe in addition to antibiotics. Sometimes, if the case is mild, just the cream will work. If you have this, use a very mild soap, like baby wash or just water until the medication kicks in, the rash clears and the symptoms go away. At it's worst, I would get it 4-5 times a year. I just started having symptoms yesterday for the first time in 3 years but it is my own fault for ramping up too quickly with a harsh facial cream : ( I got too comfortable! You just have to be so very careful when you have this stuff!! Good luck!!

I have been getting the same things on top my forehead towards the hairline, behind ears and near my eyes. They appear as pimples, red and sore but no whitehead. I use a dermicide cream which helps a little but they still reappear a week or two later. When squeezed, there is a small amount clear fluid but no pus and will form a small scab from the squeezing. Would love to know if there is a cure.

Caused by leptin imbalance. Stop eating sugar for a week and you will see positive results. And no sugar means look at the nutritional labels of everything you buy, and make sure you stay under 10g of sugar per day. Keep in mind, a can of coke has over 30g. It will be challenging but that's what I had to do.
