My boyfriend's penis is red, sore, and itchy. We are both faithful to one another and neither of us have ever had an STD. He was fine last night but after being up for several hours this morning the shaft of his penis and his scrotum started to turn red and itch severely. What could this be and does he need to go see a medical doctor? I was quite warm out today I am thinking that may have something to do with it.
Hi:
Are you certain that your boyfriend does not have other partners? Something is causing his symptoms. However, maybe it's as simple as a change in laundry soap or some new fabric that's irritating him. Consider those things. It's also a good idea to see a doctor right away to get diagnosed and to get treatment for the symptoms. This has got to be miserable for him. I would also be cautious by not engaging in sexual activity with him. This could be contagious and he should find out right away. Get him to a doctor. Let us know what the diagnosis is...We'll be thinking about how he's doing.

If you are sure he's only faithful to you, and it sounds like he is, then it could just be caused by some overuse with you. If he is not showering and using an antibacterial soap right after sex, have him try that. Then, maybe hold off on intercourse for a few days and see if it clears up on its own.

Does he work out a lot or work outdoors where he is sweating a lot? That can have something to do with it. The anti-bacterial soap method every works well, as does Aveeno oatmeal products. The key is to keep clean. Are you having any symptoms similar to what he is experiencing?
