Hi! I am 21 years old and I recently had my right ovary removed because I had a cyst the size of a small grapefruit on it. I have a common condition called endometriosis and I have been dealing with this since late 2006. It started out at 2.3 cm in 2006 and this summer I had a ultrasound which revealed that it had reached almost 7 cm. So the doctors and my parents decided that I sould have it removed. The endometriosis was causing me horrible stomach pains and I had a constant red/brown (chocolate) discharge. When I had the surgery the doctors said that there was no way to preserve my right ovary because of the damage it had caused and there was too much scar tissue. They first tried to go in laproscopic but the doctor said that was impossible so they had to make a bikini inscision and take it out that way. I'm in recovery now and all I have is time. There are so many questions that I have! Why haven't I had a bowel movement (it's been 3 days)? I want kids when I graduate from college, is that possible? Is the endometriosis going to effect my left ovary now that the right one is gone? How long is it going to take me to heal? Can someone give me some advice? Thanks =)
