I just went through all of this almost a month ago. Luckily they left my ovary but had to drain 400cc of blood from abdomen, cauterize blood vessels and capillaries, and almost did a transfusion. Before they realized I was internally bleeding they said that many times when a cyst ruptures and you have fluid in your abdomen it is b/c the cyst had a sac of it. As long as it isn't actual hemorrhaging they do not have to do surgery and your body will absorb the fluid on it's own. This is probably what happened in your case.

I had an ovarian cyst rupture with internal bleeding after intercourse.  I thought I had the stomach flu.  I was vomitting, in a mega amount of pain, and passing out.  I had no idea I was internally bleeding.  After the worst night of my life I was rushed to the Er via ambulance and after a full day of tests was rushed into surgery.  I needed 2 blood transfusions after the surgery.  I almost died.  Moral of the story...if you're vomitting, can't walk, passing out, and screaming out in pain get to the hosptial right away!!!

Hello, 29 here with a history of rupturing cysts. Last night I woke up with unbelievable pain. I've never been in labor before but I swear that's what it has to feel like. This happens the same way for be every time. Sudden excruciating pain all throughout abdomen, intense. Weakness, chills, vomiting. Pain lasts an hour to 3 hours, usually getting a little better after vomiting. After the intense pain and other symptoms decrease I am almost back to normal again. Sometimes I'll have a dull ache on ovary, or sometimes the insides of my belly will feel sore for a few hours, but its bearable. This has happened to me about 10 times in the last 4 years. My Obgyn thinks I have endometriosis, said she's 99% sure but of course I need to do laparoscopic surgery to be 100% sure, which I haven't done yet. I'm not on birth control and never have been for various reasons. I almost tried the IUD morena but I've read they have had to be removed from many women with Endometriosis due to endometrium growing on it and adhering it to you. I think I'll pass on that one. I hate that this happens, but don't know what to do to stop it. If it is endometriosis, it seems nothing is guaranteed to work. Women have surgery to have removed only to see it come back several times. I've even contemplated hysterectomy but again, it seems to come back even then.

I am 23. I went to the hospital yesterday morning bc I had terrible pain, pain I was going to ignore. Felt cramps the day before but thought maybe my period was coming early or something. Anyway I decided to go into the hospital because the pain hurt to stand and hurt to sit. Originally, they thought it was my appendix and wanted to take it out right there. I was very iffy about taking it out. The ER doctor said she was 100% sure that it was my appendix. She called the surgeon and he was 90% sure as well. He have me the option to get a CAT scan to change his 90% to a 99%. I wanted to wait for the cat scan to be sure. Turns out it was an pretty big cyst on my overy that had ruptured. I have one on the left too but it's very small, too small to measure I believe. They gave me pain killers and sent me on my way around 845pm last night. Went to chillis to get food because I hadn't eatin all day and all of the sudden, I couldn't breathe. I had terrible pain In middle where my heart is and under my ribs all the way to the right side of my neck. Went back to the hospital by 945pm. My heart was okay but basically, my hemoglobin blood count dropped from yesterday's 12.9 to 11.1 this morning. My body was basically becoming anemic and shutting down. I was tired. Couldn't really stand, actually couldn't really sit. Light headed, I was seriously so weak. Felt like passing out just laying there. Very sensitive to sound. So the OBGYN came in this morning to the hospital and wanted one final count and if my Henoglobin went down again we would have to do emergency Surgruy the clean out the blood from my stomach and burn the overy to stop the bleeding. When I got the results to the last blood test I was already in pre-op. It was very scary. My levels dropped again .4 .... So they took me back as soon as we read the results. The blood from my overy managed to make a blood clot behind my liver. That's why I had so much pain in the middle of my stomach/chest and by ribs. Also prob why I had trouble breathing, along ewith my blood counts dropping, etc. They said I I didn't do the Surgruy, my body would have never responded to the blood around my liver and it prob would have caused more complications and infection. I did NOT want surgury. I almost said forget it because I was so scared. But I am so very thankful and the insisions are very small. One on the right, one on the left and one in my belly button. They released me today but still having a problem urinating. All and all, def go get yourself checked if you have the slightest pain. Not something to mess with at all. I can't even imagine what I would be going threw if I tryed to "sleep it off". Longest two days ever!

Reading all these posts is for me very interesting! I had emergency surgery 7 years ago when i was passing out and my BP was bottoming out. at the time they had no idea, i went through a Five hour emergency surgery, had lost 2.5lts of blood prior to the surgery and another 600mls during before they found that the blood was coming from a small rupture on an apparently normal looking ovary. they could not repair it and ended up taking it out.

life since then has been very different, I always have feared it happening again, though my surgeons had told me that it was rear to happen to healthy ovaries like mine, not poly cystic that is, I have no endo either nor any other abnormalities.

At the time i had been in a very highly stressed job with a boss who was out to get me and I had literally just left. it was like my body who had been through so much tension for two years just went pop! I nearly died it changed my life.

Well this year only this month it happened AGAIN! considering I had been told it was a 1 in 200,000 chance to happen the first time I have been floored. I have not this time lost the Ovary thank goodness so we can still try for kids. At first it was the same as you have all said, the Drs sent me home on heaps of pain meds, only this didn't help, the pain stayed intense right up till they decided to operate. I was lucky this time I didn't bleed much and they could go in via key hole surgery, last time I was opened right up!

the only thing that has been the same as last time in my life is intense stress. I again was just on the out of a very stressful 18months, huge stress!

So ladies we need to look after ourselves. I really feel for those of you that have polycystic ovaries or endo because for you the pain is going to be there and I really could not cope with that pain all the time. being myself very active and working in a very physical industry.

I really do think that dr need to take more care and not just say 'oh its just a ruptured cyst go home and sleep it off'

Surgeons removed a friend's appendix and right ovary when her cyst burst. Was their a way she could have saved them?

science can manufacture ovaries, also, you do not need them to have children of your own, when your time comes, you will see, God has given you a miracle through medical science. Do not give up on your dream of having a family, you still can! I promise, you will see! I am so sorry for your pain, but for now, your body is clearly better off without those sick ovaries. You are too young to believe you will never have babies. YOU CAN AND YOU WILL! GOD bless you.

I know this is an old post but I hope you see it. I was 15 when I had a ruptured cyst that ruptured my ovary. The ER didn't know what was wrong and decided to give me strong pain meds and observe me overnight. My mom told them she wanted a CT scan which saved my life. They saw my abdomen was full of blood and rushed me to surgery. They told my parents that I would of bleed to death within 2 hours. They stitched the ovary and removed my appendix. I was excited to hear they saved the ovary because I wanted children. I had no issues having kids. I have 2 boys 18 and 5 and a daughter 16. After having my 5 yr old I kept getting sicker and sicker and the Dr's couldn't figure out why and I was placed on numerous anti depressants and anti anxiety meds for "racing thoughts"

After 4 years I found out that I have endometriosis. I had a endometrial ablation which helped but not totally. 8 months later the ablation failed. At 36 I needed a total hysterectomy. The Dr said the ovarian tissue from that right ovary had wrapped itself around my bowels and had infiltrated into the bowels. Which she believes that it's the result of the emergency surgery. I don't mean to scare you but pay attention just in case. The surgery could lead to issues later on, 1) endometriosis and scar tissue. 2) my daughter was diagnosed with endometriosis at 15 yrs old which could also be a result of the emergency surgery, if I had Endo during my pregnancy with her and birth. Please pay attention if you have a daughter and she starts having female issues.
