I have recently developed a tender 'lump' located at the opening of my urethra between it and my vagina. It seems to be ON the opening of the urethra itself. I've never noticed anything similar before and am somewhat worried since the only information I could find about anything similar was a reference to cancer..
I'm currently menstruating and so am not sure if there is blood in my urine. Urinating does not hurt and is not difficult. Tight pants, however, do cause some pain as the 'lump' is painful to touch.
I'm unable to see my doctor for at least another week. Any suggestions otherwise or ideas what it could be?

Hi
If it makes you feel any better, I have exactly the same problem as you. I also cant go and see my doctor because i have my period.
My lump as at the opening of my urethra it is harder than the other skin, the same colour but painful. It kind of obstructs the opening of the urethra a bit and i have pain when i pee and pain in my groins and fever. I get pain when i wear tighter trousers too - im really worried about it.
The only things i can find on this are about cancer - Its scaring the hell out of me. I hope someone can give us both some idea of what this is. I am only 28, fit and healthy and dont think it can be an std as i have has the same partner for 8 years.
Hope you get some answers soon.

hi l too have the same problem and it scare the hell out of me to, have you found any answer yet?
did you all find out the cause yet, i recently had a baby. And after i had been home for a week or two my husband decided to "analyze the damage" he said that there was something unusual there. he initally thought it was on the vagina. so i brushed it off and said it was most likely just postpartum swelling. Afew weeks later after a bath i decided to see if it was still there so i got a mirror and saw a marble size oval shaped bulge or lump. i called my ob. when he examined me he was very unsure of the cause he called it swelling of the urethra but i doubt that because of the amount of time i had had it , the size and shape and the lack of pain. (no pain at all) he refered me to a urologist. i cant see him for two weeks. it is driving me crazy. i googled a vaginal tumor and get this it looked some what similar and and and the bulging was on the urethra just like mine i had specifally typed vagina and it came up with a tumor on the urethra. please if you have seen your doctor already reply and give some word
So Concerned 101 --- I recently noticed the same problem. Its been almost 3 months since I discovered it. I ignored it until now that its becoming painful. I was referred to the urologist on Friday and I see him tomorrow. I was just wondering if you by any chance have seen the urologist yet. I am getting nervous because all I find on the internet is about cancer too. I am only 27 and am hopeful that it isn't anything serious and it can be removed.
I have the same thing. a small, red growth on the edge of my urethra. i have seen the urologist and will be having a biopsy next week. Have any of you learned whether your growth was benign?
Anyone here who have seen the doctor about this?
I also have, i think for 3 mos now. Befor i just feel a swelling usually before my menst.
Just before my menst i tried to check why it feels swell. Just after urinating i flip the 2 lavia? and i already saw(didnt thought there it is, a dark red/maroon flesh or lump on the urethra opening) It doesnt feel pain when urinating or have mens. But i just notice a get little sick and feel nausea since a have this, im not sure if it related due to some infections.
Im nervous, is it ralated to menstruation.
I cant see a doctor specifically for that coz im just a contract worker here in a seldom enlish speaking country and im jus 27 w/ no partner.
ANybody have info about this? pls

I just had a baby 5 weeks ago, and am having a lot of pressure down there. I used a mirror to look and see what was up and I noticed that my urethra was very red and almost protruding. It is also slightly bleeding. I'm not sure if this is related to the pressure I'm feeling, but I'm really worried. I don't have any pain when I urinate. I see the doctor in 2 days, but I'm afraid it is something horrible.
hi, im a 17 year old girl who has noticed the same thing you all have. mine is red and when i put tissue on it, there are spots of blood sometimes. when i wear tight jeans sometimes i get stabbing pains. there is also some discharge.as a little girl i had a urethral prolapse and maybe that has something to do with it. when i first noticed it about 2 months ago i was soooooo scared. i went to the doctor and she gave me thrush ctream!! i knew it wasnt thrush but what could i say? she was a doctor! i still dont know what it is, i would be very grateful if someone could let me know.

Hi. I am a 60 plus woman. Have had the same problem. I thought it was a prolapsed uterus when I saw the protusion. Went to my Gyn. who sent me the urologist. The diagnosis was a urethral polyp. Excised , and out the door in a few hours. Almost always begnine (sp). Could also be a urethral caruncle. This is usually not treated surgically - just creams and sitz baths. A visit to the uro is advisable - just to exclude the rare possibility of something serious. However it's generally nothing threatening. hoep this relieves some anxiety.
i posted this yesterday......im thinking this could be the same thing??
hi everyone,
i had a baby 6 weeks ago and had to have an episiotomy (cut) it has healed and scarred well apart from on the inside of it there is a bright red sort of 'sack' thing which is about the size of a baked bean. it is only attatched by a little section of it at the bottom of my episiotomy scar, n the rest is dangling. its horrible it looks like a bag of blood!!
it doesnt hurt but it does ache, and im worried because it will get in the way and might burst or rip off when using a tampon or having s3x again.
if anyone knows what this is please reply! i cant find anything on the internet about it. thanks

I am a 20 year old female with something similar I just found yesterday. I have been researching as well and also found what is called a Urethral Diverticulum:
*Urethral diverticulum (UD) is a condition in which a variably sized "pocket" or outpouching forms next to the urethra. Because it most often connects to the urethra, this outpouching repeatedly gets filled with urine during the act of urination thus causing symptoms.
They say that is usually occurs in women 40 to 70 and rarely if ever in younger adults. It is associated with a lot of urinary tract infections. Look it up on google or another search engine for additionally information.
Though it doesn't seem to be what is going on with me, I hope it gives you all another perspective on what you may (or may not) have!
