Hello,
which type of hip replacement did you have - ceramic, metal or plastic? All of these can cause problems after the hip replacement and recovery, each for their own reasons. For example, plastic ones can start to slowly chip away causing the damage to surrounding bone and tissue, which of course causes pain. Also, in some cases, the implant itself can dislodge and since it rubs directly on the bone, it causes it to become more sensitive and painful.
I'm afraid this is all guessing until you can get an x-ray of both your hips and have specialist look at it and see what exactly is the problem. Your physician can order an x-ray which should be covered by your insurance, however, specialist orthopedic opinion is unfortunately still not covered,
Hope anyone who knows bit more about medicare will reply to your post,
Nicole
Hi Mike, it's just a far-fetch, but do you think it might be worth investigating into that specific hip implant type recall - finding out exactly which company was responsible and maybe if they have any way of helping you now since it very well might be that your problems are directly caused by their implant? Like I said, far-fetched, but anything at this point that would help you with the pain seems worth trying to me, Wish you all the best, Nicole
No problem, I just hope you can get at least some reimbursement from the company. Let me know how things go, hope you'll soon be pain-free, Nicole
