Could you possibly expand on your mothers diagnosis please?
I have had severe pain on my rt side and back for over a month. Went to ER first time thought was a kidney stone sent me home with meds. Helped pain alittle was back in ER a week later. Did more test and another CT scan this time he tells me the results are fine but my rt kidney has been removed. I have never had it removed. I had my appendix removed years ago an a hysterecomy. Never been told this from a CT scan. I'm still in pain and don't have a Dr or insurance right now but don't no if should go back to the ER. Pain with blood in my urine. I'm scared and confussed. What could cause CT scan not to see my kidney and why so much pain and blood in urine for over a month
to abdominalpain, I have suffered severe pain for the last three years constant and everyday. Recently have had my gallbladder removed just to end up with another problem. Your problem could be gallbladder, the biliary system is connected throughout the upper abdomen. Right to left with the pancreatic duct on the left and cyctic duct on the right both leading towards the common bile duct. Feel free to call if you need someone to help find answers. I will do all I can! Best wishes to us all ! Angela

Thank you so much Angela. The Dr said my Ct didn't show any gall stones but I know something is wrong and concers me that the CT didn't show my right kidney. Think I'm going back to ER tomorrow when my husband gets off if the pain is still this bad.
Dear Julie, my doctor informed me that it is possible my stones are radio opaque and that the quantity that was in there obscured the imaging because the stones were to close together. Best of luck to you today. Keep us posted.
wow....I'm still in alot of pain but were in the middle of 12 inches of snow and constantly coming down so can't get to Dr right now. I'm praying it lets up some so can make it to Dr. Thank you so much for your help.
Hey Julie, I'm a Texas gal so I can't relate to the snow! Try using a heating pad or ice pack on the area of pain. Ice packs help me more than the heat and try to stay away from fatty foods just I case it is your gallbladder. You might want to get some advice on the hidascan for gallbladder ejection fraction. Your kidney.......keep drinking water honey and believe it or not my sister had kidney stones, she would use magnesium supplement. Seemed to help her. I'll try to blow some warm weather your way!
Good Morning...Still in pain more last night and today. I did find out from hospital in Va where I had my hysterectomy in 2010 that on 3 seperate CT Scan's i have both kidneys. So don't know why the doctors here couldn't see my right kidney on CT Scan or ultrasound. Husband wants me to go back to ER today but been twice and mis diagnosis. so don't know what to do.
Just know pain is bad and can't eat cause nauseated.
Hope you're having a better morning
Poor thing! It doesn't seem like all those years of medical school that they've gone through is benefiting either one of us. I'll have to say I agree with your husband. Persistance pays off sometimes. You just have to go in with a strong conviction and remember that you are the one that has a personal investment in your health. They do not. And imaging testing is a diagnostic tool, in no way is 100 percent fool proof. Hang in there. You're not fighting alone:-)
I have read through most of these posts, and I too am having much similar issues. The right upper quadrant pain that radiates down my side and up into my shoulder, at one time the pain was so intense it made me feel like I was having a heart attack. All of this is onset from eating something that was entirely too sweet and or greasy and fatty. I made an appointment and was referred to a gastroenterologist who ordered an Upper GI which showed nothing but some mild GERD also ordered a Upper Endoscopy which showed an abnormality in the duodenum and bile in the stomach. Also had a hida scan done that took just about 4 hours they were having a difficult time seeing the gallbladder but the ejection fraction was normal. I am at my wits end i take so much medication for my stomach you would think i would be fine but im not. My GI doc was almost positive that it was celiac and an intolerance to fructose but all that has come back negative.
Also, to the anon user who is having the pain like a heart attack two posts ago, go get a second opinion about your gallbladder. I had the same thing and was put in the emergency three different times for what I thought were heartattacks.. they turned out to be gallbladder attacks. All my tests were normal but they did surgery anyway and found out that it was completely blocked by a gallstone that they didn't see in any of the tests and the inside of my gallbladder was completely eroded. This was a year ago and I was 22.. PLEASE go get a second opinion, this is identical to what I had..
Hello,
I have been having severe pain on the right side of my chest ribs that wraps around to my back, also my side.My bowl movement are now changing. The nausea and vomiting is awful.I feel like i cant catch my breath.I have had ultrasounds that came back normal, but the recent one showed a enlarged liver. These doctors make you feel like your crazy. Many times it feels like im going to have a heart attack. The heartburn is so bad, bloating, gas, and i just cant take it anymore.
Seems like we are all going thru the same thing. I went back to ER Sunday night. Pain was so bad I couldn't take it anymore. This is my 3rd visit to ER in 6 weeks. My husband took me to different hosp since first one said I don't have a right kidney. Comes to find out I do have one like i told the doctor. apparently the Radiologist mistyped my results. Well this hospital said it could be my gall bladder so I have appt at urologist today. No stones but ER doctor said i could still have them. I'm sick these Dr acting like its not that serious. This new Dr was shocked when I told her I don't want to leave the ER with pain meds or anything I want to know what's going on and can they please help.My Blood pressure was 174/110 cause of the pain and has severe chills and nausea. Please everyone don't let the Dr make you feel like you're crazy keep pressing. This ER doctor called a urologist and he agreed to see me today since i just moved here and don't no any doctors. All my results have been normal also but this DR said that can happen it actually take 2 days to get cultures back from a extensive blood workup. ER just get's basic results while your there.
Hey Julie, glad to hear you are hanging in there and not allowing them to manipulate you regarding your health. As you know I had my gall bladder removed in January and afterwards I have expelled a total of over 50 stones, largest one ranging at 1 inch in length. I have every intention of pursuing this from a legal stand point. It astounds me that I and many others are clearly being left in a horrible predicament. I am no longer willing to allow the medical community to question my knowledge or integrity. Stay strong as i know you have been. Good things will come for you. :-)
Also have not mentioned that my WBC and liver enzymes testing hasn't been within normal ranges for 8 weeks now I can't switch providers because of insurance but ill try the second opinion thank you!
