I have the same exact thing, I will go a few weeks sometimes even months without it happening and then all of a sudden in the middle of sleep i will wake up to sharp chest pain that goes all the way through to my back. It is only on my left side, too. I went to the emergency room once and they could not find what it was. It started about 3 years ago when I was 21 and now I am 24 and it is still happening. It lasts sometimes a half hour sometimes hours. It usually is most painful at first when I wake up. It feels like I pulled a muscle around my heart or something. I hope someone finds out something soon and posts back here.
i have same as you guys but i felt it since i was in grade school but it occurs sometimes yearly,,the now its more than 3 months no stop from suffering from pain.especially during night time, and now im 22 years old but still occour...i didnt find work beacause of this.i already see a doctor.some help about this guys like great idea about pain and prevention is a big help for me.thank you
I have just now started to have these same symptoms...
Last Wednesday morning around 3am; I woke to an onslaught of severe upper back/abdominal pain. I've never had any sort of stomach problems, gas, heartburn, etc, etc,... EVER. - So this gave me a half panic attack. ... It went away after about 1.5 hours.
I awoke last Thursday morning at my normal time; nauseated, dizzy and SICK. Immediately got the dry heaves and had an extreme case of diarrhea all day. 3 sets of extremely bad dry heaves and diarrhea all day. - I'm one of those rare people who doesn't become ill very often at all. Perhaps once every few YEARS and that's only for a few days at most. - It's now Monday morning and i am EXHAUSTED... I'm soooo tired. I was this way on Friday of last week and just rested. I felt fine on Saturday, was okay yesterday - even went out to eat for lunch, drank a little, felt GREAT! - ... 3am this morning - WHAMO! EXTREME PAIN. I got up, walked around, took some ibuprofen, some Gas-X, ... nothing. no relief. - I sat in the living room with one of those Homedics Shiatsu back cushions that has the painful metal balls in it. Turned it on, let it do it's thing to my upper back and could feel a specific area between my shoulder blades that felt knotted up and tense. I let that thing dig into me for a good 5 minutes and the pain quickly subsided.
Because i'm quite rarely ill and don't have a history of stomach problems; I have every reason to believe that this is one of two things:
1. A bug. - Intestinal infection or SomEtHinG to do with my GI tract. (having been feeling sick since Thursday of last week)
2. NERVES - Nerve damage, pinched nerve, etc (history of back pain, bad car wreck, massaged helped the pain, etc)
Has anyone asked the Doctor if its Acute/Chronic Pancreatitis?? It's what my friend had and now I have all of the same symptoms. You may want to check into that. Hope this is helpful news!
I had IDENTICAL symptoms... Went for tests etc and all came back clear, and even got told the pain was all in my head!!! Gall stones were ruled out, as that was my first diagnosis, but as all my results kept coming back clear, I knew there had to be something causing this awful pain at night, and stumbled across peptic ulcers (duodenal ulcers) and my symptoms fitted it perfectly. So I went to see my dr the next day to suggest my findings and he put me on antibiotics for ulcer infection and Zantac to reduce stomach acid. Told to avoid coffee and alcohol and eat smaller meals more regularly instead of large meals
THIS WORKED!! no more pain, thank goodness!!!
Ok, I'm not alone on this one..I'm 61, female, had GB removed in 73...in 75 or so, I remember getting my first "attack" at night..it starts gradually, like I can tell now, way before, what is happening and then increases to intense, ready to think youre gonna die pain, within a few moments, and cant' breathe, doubled over, crying and then it goes away, gradually, like it came on, and it's like nothing ever happened.
I figured it's pointless to tell anyone and be put thru all the testing to find nothing.
Fast fwd to a couple yrs ago, my legs were bothering me so had reg bloodwork done, and my alt/ast (liver enzymes) were thru the roof, like 500+ and 400+, supposed to UNDER 20...thank god i had had the same bloodwork done, a year previous and they were fine, under 20..so they started testing me monthly, and although they decreased, minimally, i would not allow a liver biopsy nor would i take the 60mg of prednisone...my NP told me, while telling him of the attacks, that i sometimes get, which feel like passing a kidney stone, was the only way i can guess at describing it, told me that sometimes poeple who have GB out, the continue to form stones which can get caught in duct...i had NEVER heard that, so i'm thinking hmmmm
So I research on internet, thank god for research and internet, and see about liver stones and i found dr moritz, and i bought his book and did the liver cleanse, and passed alot of teeny stones, and then went back to dr, and my counts were down below 20 again! they thought i had this that and the other for autoimmune...
In the last three months, I have been woken up with this attack once again, worse than ever, ready to die rather than call ambulance and be put thru ER hell..i think i should do another liver cleanse, and i just wanted to tell my story..thanks
this is how my pains started too, and I would start being able to sleep less and less before they came. eventually I couldn't sleep for 20 minutes without them coming, and would have to sleep completely sitting up. I'm 21 and my doctor thought it was something to do with acid reflex that runs in my family. But eventually I convinced him to give me an ultrasound and it ended up being gallstones so if you haven't been checked out for that I wouldn't wait any longer! Also for now, try eating minimal fat. Aim for around 10 grams of fat or less per meal, and see if the pains subside. I've been having to eat like this for half a year now and it's not so bad once you get used to what you can and cannot eat. Don't wait any longer! I had to miss so much work cause of those awful nights!
Ok I think I am having the same thing I will be dead asleep and then all of a sudden this pain I feel right between my breasts and into my back I thought I was having some sort of heart attack it hurts like hell. I had it a couple of nights ago and drank some water and it went away I could barely catch my breath it is crazy like maybe gas is stuck or something pls advise
Try organic apple cider vinegar. Drink 8 oz. of water, with 1 Tablespoon of ACV mixed in, first thing in the morning, every day. If you can't stomach the taste, (you will get used to it) squeeze some fresh lemon juice into it. Both of these ingredients are powerful anti-acids and will alkalinize your stomach lining, which helps to prevent disease of the gastrointestinal tract. Its the acid in your stomach that is being pushed up into the esophagus at night causing the pain when you lie down. Its an irritant to the lining. Doctors can't determine this, except for your symptoms. They don't study nutrition, only pathologies and pharmaceuticals. Get more lemon into your diet, and do the ACV and water cure every day. Its weird that this can cause so much pain, but its true. Good luck.
It's called Iritable Bowl Syndrome or IBS and the gluten diet and all might help, but see if there's a Bio Resonance doctor or test you can take and that will tell you everything down to the color of your socks, and usually they put you on a very strict diet for quite a while and that will bring your various organs back onto frequency and will probably straighten out the IBS. I've had it for years and just live with it because I don't like the diets!
