i have this pain too, it's a very sharp pain near between my hip and belly button on the lower left side and when you push on it it hurts.  sometimes it hurts for a long time and sometimes it's only for a few minutes.  it's really hard to deal with and i dont have it very often--often enough for it to bother me every time it happens of course.  i've been told it's gas or something...but im not sure either.  my co-worker has it too and neither of us can figure it out.

ive had the same pains beside my left side belly botton but mine have been here for a year and they hardly ever go away.. i went to the doctors and got lots of test done and they told me i had migraines but that didnt help my stomach problem at all. so my mom thought maybe it could be a lady issue so we went to see if everything was okay. they found out that i had a cyst on my ovaries, then they put my on birth control pills to shrink and get rid of the cyst. i then got another ultra sound down and found out the cyst were gone but i still had all the pain, when the doctor was looking at my stomach she saw that it was pulsing when she would barely push on it and it would hurt so bad. now no doctor knows whats wrong and its really starting to worry my :(. can anyone help me out pleasee

I have the same thing! it feels like there is a needle trying to push out from my stomach about an inch to the left of my belly button. I went to the ER, waited for 2 hours just for the doctor to tell me it was probably gas and to go home. even though it still has a dull pain and is sore to the touch. I doubt it is gas.

This sounds  alot like my problem. AT THANKSGIVEN I STARTED RUBBING MY BELLY CAUSE IT STARTED HURTING.  EATING  WENT DOWN  FROM USING A PLATE TO A SAUCER. AFTER ABOUT 5 OR 6 BITES I GOT FULL. BY CHRISTMAS THE PAIN INCREASED.  THE DOCTOR SAID IT WAS MY GALL BLADDER CAUSE IT HAD A LOT OF STONES IN IT. SO BY THE 1ST OF MARCH THEY TOOK OUT MY GALL BLADDER.  THAT SEEMED TO MAKE THE BELLY HURT WORSER. HOT LIKE SOMEBODY STARTED A FIRE IN ME THEN  STINES  LIKE A HAD HUNDREDS OF BEE;S IN THERE. THAT HAS CALM DOWN NOW. HURT. I HAVE LOST 13 POUNDS SINCE THE 1ST OF MARCH.  NO BATHROOM  PROBLEMS. I ATE A FISH SANDWICH FROM MCDONALDS FRIDAY AT NOON BUT BY 4;OO P.M. I HURT BY 1 A.M. I;M IN THE FLOOR HURTING. CT, BLOOD , UPPER  & LOWER G.I.  NORMAL.  ALSO WHEN I SIT IN A CHAIR AND PUT MY DRINK ON THE FLOOR THEN I BEND OVER TO PICK IT UP THAT HURTS.  NITE TIME I SLEEP ON MY SIDE WITH A PILLOW IN FRONT OF MY BELLY -- FOR AWHILE. THEN IT FEELS LIKE I HAVE A BRICK ON MY STOMACH.  NOW I HURT WHERE THE GALL BLADDER WAS OVER TO MY BELLY BUTTON AND ALL AROUND THE BELLY BUTTON. PUSH MY BELLY DOWN AND IT IS TENDER AND HURTS.  PLUS AT TIMES MY BELLY FEELS IT IS BEING PUSH OUT ---- SO AT NITE I SUCK IT IN THEN THAT HELPS SOME.  I GETTING AFRAID TO EAT CAUSE I DON'T NO WHAT MIGHT SAT IT OFF. BUTI HATE BEING HURGRY TOO.

I dont know if anyone is still following this thread but im having some of the same probs! It started a few months ago to the left of my belly button and a little above that too. It isnt a sharp pain, just like a soreness. I had my gall bladder out this last Dec. and I thought maybe it cou;d be scar tissue even tho the gall bladder is to the right of the belly button. Im on percocet due to back problems and do get constipated. I had a spinal fusion in 08 which didnt take all my back pain awaqy. I went to the ER a week or so ago because i got freaked out thinking there was something serious going on and the pain was kinda going around to my back. They were going to do a CT but when they did a preg test it came back positve but with real low levels because I had had a misscarriage 3 weeks before. They totally glossed over my stomach pain telling me they werent sure if I had a new pregnancy. I told them i hadnt even had sex again yet!! They did an ultrasound and nothing was in there...surprise people! They didnt see anything wrong with my ovaries or anything. My blood work came back ok, no kidney problems or anything but still didnt do the CT. I felt really let down by the "care" I recieved there. Im scared to go to the DR even tho I know I should because its better to catch something sooner but im scared what they are going to tell me! Ive ben taking stool softeners so im not constipated lately and no blood in my stools. I wqas told I migtht have fibromyalgia so im thinking I could also have IBS because sometimes they come together. Anyone find any answers thats posted here?!

I'm 27/female and am in the exact same discomfort right now that everyone has been describing (sharp pain, about 2 inches left of my belly button.) Although it's a small relief to know that there's a whole group experiencing it too, I don't understand why no one can give this thing a name! About 6 months ago it was so bad (the pain went on for weeks) that I saw: first a general practitioner, then my gynocologist, followed by a urologist; and had several rounds of sonograms, blood and urine tests- each doctor telling me that everything is supposedly fine! I'm convinced that nobody knows your body better than you do, but yet it seems all avenues of inquiry have been exhausted. Any suggestions?

To any docs that might be perusing this topic: I experience an intermittent stabbing sensation on the left side, about 2 inches from my belly button. The pain comes on unexpectedly in clusters of 4-5 events that each last about 10-15 seconds. The pain repeats itself through the day; however, I will go many days without any pain. History: I am a 44 year-old female, never pregnant, not sexually active at present, considered morbidly obese at approx. 70 lbs over my ideal weight. Medical history includes various colds and knee/joint problems, one bout with pneumonia in my 20s, but otherwise unremarkable. Thou never actually diagnosed, it was suspected by my GP that I have PCOS (evinced by monthly pelvic pain, reccuring chin "whiskers" I have to pluck every few days, and lumpy breasts). In the bathroom: I have loose stools most of the time, and periodically experience bouts of constipation. When I was younger I developed the bad habit of holding back urine (no peeing for 8-9 hours, even when urge was strong), I carried this behavior into young adulthood but stopped sometime in my mid 20s. When peeing, my urine stream is very low-pressure, and often short in duration. I usually feel I have to go again, or have a "not finished" feeling, so stay seated, dribbling out the last bits until I feel satisfied that I've finished, which takes between 3 and 15 minutes. I don't have accidents, but periodically need to use a pad to catch leaking when I have a bad cough, or when exerting myself. I have done some research on my own, and based on the symptoms I'm experiencing, feel confident asking my doctor to check for the following: Diseased gallbladder, abdominal aortic aneurysm, and kidney, bladder, and urinary tract infections, as well as complications owing to a prolapsed pelvic floor and PCOS-related problems (such as ovarian cysts). Please let me know if there is anything else I should be inquiring about. Thank you.

I started getting a dull ache about 4 months ago. After approx the first couple of months, sharp pain started. It comes and goes. I could be sitting, driving, twisting, taking a deep breath, going to the toilet and it just comes on.
I've had IBS issues for few years now. Ultra Sound came up normal, although they found that my left ovaries was a little further to the left.
I previously had polycystic ovaries many years ago, long before this pain started. The recent utra sounds found that i do not have polycystic ovaries which from what i've learnt is unusual to have them then not have them.
The doctor said that it is likely muscular pain....i highly doubt it!

Its a relief in a way to know that other people have had this problem too...at least i know i am not going crazy and its not just in my head!!!!

first get yourself to a gastrologist ... they can tag you blood with radiation and x-ray you ... after this you will need to have a barium test ... and a colonoscopy ... you may have an inflamed ulcer ... it could be caused by IBS or Crohn's Disease ... each are treatable but no cure is known yet ... if this is the case ask for an anti inflamitory called dipentum or another that is specific to these conditions ...  if they offer steroids ... tell them no (unless your a man) ... the steroids they give women make us grow hair in places it shouldn't and is unhealthy for women to put testosterone of those levels into our bodies (something they never really researched) ~ my story ~ I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease when I was 14 and these were my experiences while they tried to figure out what the H was wrong with me ... they were going to diagnose me with Lupus ... until a gastrologist came to my rescue ... they often misdiagnose it ... I am now 31 and have not needed to do anything since ... right at the moment i am having the same pain ... though i know what mine is ... i have not taken any medication since i was 19 ... this is the first i have had any pains ... NOTE: stay away from ibuprophen, asprin, and some antibiotics ... these inflame ... so do certain foods ... also unlike the information some doctors give ... ulcers CAN grow on the exterior of your organs and may not be caught by conventional methods ... the nausea, low appitite, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, tenderness, tiredness, sudden weight gain/loss is all symtomatic of it ... do your research and see the proper doctor ... if it is neither of these ... at least you got  yourself properly checked ...

Hi I just started having a pain on my left side of my belly button. I just got back into jogging so i thought it was from that and then it really started hurting when i had to pee. it comes and goes kind of conserned. When i take apple cider vinegar it seems to help.

Twice this week I have had this really sharp pain about 1.5 inches to the left of my navel for the first time - it's not stabbing just now but if I press the area it is tender or slightly bruised feeling.  The pain lasted for minutes rather than hours but it was sore.

I have been having an uncomfortable dull pain in my left side and back renal area for several weeks now and last week went for an Ultrasound the resluts of which came back clear.  The pain in my 'kidney' area is always there and seldom sharp although sometimes it feels like there is burning acid in it.  I don't know if they are related or not.

I have never had bowel, stomach or dietary problems and now am begining to wonder if it something to do with lack of fluids or a mild dehydration or that I have perhaps torn something inside.  Do any of you do a lot of exercise by any chance?

I'll be getting blood and urine results from the Docs next week so hopefully I'll have more information or at least a new starting point then.

hey all

i am much the same pain just left of mu belly button and out my back like a pulled muscle or someone poked u with a stick can be worse or better does not like a really tight pance or a tight belt. Also caught to lift things heavy at my left side. Its like a pulled muscle

All started about 25 years ago or more the pain came on and off and then I was passing loads of blood went to my local GP an old man and he said no meat just chicken and fish and got me to hospital in 2 weeks mean time gave up dairy and meat and the blood stopped.

Had every test under the sun x rays scans tubes up and down and tests of what i was passing all clear.

i dont eat much dairy i do eat a bit of most things not on a diest but no cheese no mayo  cream they kill me going to the toilet i tend to be loose if i eat badly.

Some days are better then others but i get by stress is no help and alcohol is murder it kills it .

I remember my old doc said to me it will not kill you but it will be hard at times try to avoid what gives u problems.

I got a tablet one time De nol could do anything on it drink eat anything but another doctor said if u keep on them u will have no kidneys so i gave them up and now take nothing.

Ger

Some days are good and some not so good and sometimes for no reason but if u are really happy and enjoying yourself u can almost completely forget the pain till it gives u a twinge !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
