Wow I thought it was just me!! I've been getting this regularly for about 8 years, yes it feels like your stomach is ripping open, down to your lower area. I have had to stay hunched over just to relieve pressure, this hurts so much.

I'm a 24 year old male and this has been happening to me my whole life as well. When it occurs, I look straight up and stretch my abdomen as far as I can for about 30 seconds. Then I'm pain free. Sometimes the pain comes back after I sit for awhile, but nowhere near as intense. Lack of excercise, dehydration, and irregular (sometimes unnoticed) muscle movement all contribute to this b.s. Good luck. Hope this helps

This sounds like the most sensible answer I've heard about this I've had this for almost 30 years and I am suffering right now as we speak.I need to pee but can't as the pain doubles me over in the process I normally just wait it out for 3 or 4 hours go for pee and hope pain has gone.will definately be trying to get checked for what u have said.here's hoping.

I'm a male, 21 years old and I've been having these random pains for years now!! I'm happy to hear other people have encountered it too! I've asked my sister and my parents but none of them have experienced it. It's just as everyone has already described it. To me, it happens, after I've been sitting hunched for a long time, or after I've eaten a lot during dinner and I try to get up. What I do is, I really slowly stretch my torso and then the pain goes away after 10-20 minutes. I NEVER do sudden movements with my torso because this pain feels really dangerous! BUt it's so random, it just happens sometimes.

HI Andrew ,I've had this pain from multiple same reasons mentioned by everyone above as a kid and one thing that helps is when I drink a lot of water and try to pee ( it's like walk it off but mine is pee it off) lol now though I've discovered a new way to rid of the pain faster .. Just lay flat on your back and put your knees at 90 degrees . It relieves your muscles . They said If your in the field and get shot that's the best thing to do as well as your muscles are more relaxed than when your legs are laying flat your muscles are stretch (pulled over muscles pain get worst ) hope that helps your brother

Saturday morning woke up went to work came home to go do my second shift when I felt as if someone was pulling on my whole belly button/stomach area. The pain has not subsided like everyone else has. I can't bend over, sit down cause it hurts. Today is Monday n now I feel a ripping and a pulling pain. Couldn't get any sleep what do ever. It's to the point I feel like ripping my belly button off my stomach

Glad to see some people understand! I also get the crazy eye when I try to explain, which is why I haven't gone to the DR. Just curious, does anyone here have a family history of diabetes?

I think it could have something to do with sitting down a lot or being hunched over.

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm a female and get this pain about once a month. So painful when I pee....and the weird pain behind the belly button, sometimes that pain shoots up right below my right boob. Wish I could figure out what it is.

i've been experiencing this off and on my whole life. first time in elementary school, much more frequently in my teens. i think it doesnt happen as often now because i dont hunch as much and i am much better about drinking water/going pee every hour or two. it just happened again tonight, but after i went pee and drank more water i was fine. i kept wondering if it was a hernia as well but i didnt have any of the other symptoms other than pain and feeling like there was a fishing hook pulling my belly button up with the string connecting to my clitoral area. i thought it was "in my head" too. glad to know if i take care of myself (reason why grown ups tell you to sit up straight) i dont usually have to deal with it. 32 y/o female no kids.
