16 year old female. I've had the same pains since I was a little kid. The happen randomly at least 6 times a month. When I have it I can't move it hurts to the point I'm crying. I just want to know what it is and if it's possible to get rid of it I actually have it right now and am laying down in bed and can't move at all. What is it?!?!

I just found this site while searching because my (non-biological) stepson (13) mentioned he had the pain. As I told him, I've had this same symptom periodically since I was a kid, & also my (biological) son, who is now an adult, complained of the same pain when he was a kid. I can just about guarantee that this is a LOT more common than any of us realize, with probably a common cause for most cases that is not commonly known. Good luck to you all. I feel your pain.

Mine started again this morning. It's a horrible pain than goes away usually a day later. It's very speratic. I just hope it's nothing worse. People think I'm making it up or something so I just bare through it now. I'm going to keep track of how much I'm hydrating and cut out the sweets. Hopefully it ends soon!

Thank you! I would also say you could be dehydrated and should drink water if you have this. For me it helped subside the pain.

Hello everyone. Just found a great site with several causes of belly button pain and saw this, which i think fits. It includes other possibilities so i think anyone reading this should look it up.

Quote with link below:

with Pulling Pain

Some, mainly young, people describe a sharp, shooting pain in the belly button that travels down to the bladder, penis, vagina, clitoris, urethra or groin when they stand up quickly, urinate, or press or pull the belly button upwards, usually when they have full bladder; some describe it as a string going down from the belly button (35). The pain may originate from the urachus, which is a remnant of the duct that connects the bladder and umbilicus in the fetus. If necessary, the urachus can be surgically removed.

Hope it helps, especially for those who have cheonic cases.

I thought I was the only one who felt these pains, i haven't had them since I was a kid and it just hit me again today. I usually try and drink a lot of water and lay down and not move around too much. It hurts when I pee even more then when I bend. glad to know I'm not the only one.

I'm feeling the pain now. I woke up to it yesterday morning. Im 17, turning 18 in September. I've been having this pain for a couple years now. I went in and explained it to my doctor and he didn't know what I was talking about so I never wanted to go back in. Well I hate Having to go to the bathroom. It hurts! I've been making myself go to the bathroom because I have to see so bad. It hurts walking to the bathroom. I told my boyfriend and he wants to take me in to get checked. He's seen me suffer from this pain and he can't do anything to help Me. What Should I Be Doing When This Happens? What Should I Do When I Have To Go To The Bathroom?

I get this feeling a lot and it feels like rope filling from my belly button. It is horrible because it really hurts to straighten my stomach and if I hunch up it feels like the rope inside my stomach is loose and not pulling. This feeling is contemporary and comes back when it wants to. The way I like to quickly make it go away is to relax my tummy. Put the heat pack on the area or have a warm bath. Hope this helps.

Try to put a heat pack over the area of pain, or have a warm bath. This will relax your muscles and shall ease the pain.

Hi. May I know how long has it been since your surgery and is there any recurring pain after your surgery? And was it an open surgery or laparoscopy?

I have found a relation between the sharp pain in the belly button, maybe this is just how it manifests itself for me. It seems that even the slightest cold on my feet will trigger this strange pain. For example if I walk barefoot on the kitchen floor long enough, even if I sense no cold on my feet. Also when I wear short pants and it's chilly outside. For sure is not related to appendicitis or kydney stones.
