I've had a mild asthma for years, but after about 6 months of taking Yaz, my asthma got worse, with no other obvious reasons. My lung capacity is still fine, but I'm a runner, so my doctor said it's normal. I nad a NIOX test, when they check the air that I exhale, and it showed airway inflammation, which is asthma. So even if your lung capacity is within normal, that doesn't mean you don't have asthma.
Other than that, in 1.5 years of taking Yaz I went from the edge of being hyperthyroid to hypothyroid, and also developed a rare for my age autoimmune disease. I don't want to blame it all on Yaz, but can't help but think it's all connected.
how long have u been taking YAZ? i have took about 9 months..now almost about 3 months i had stop..my breathing is better but still sometimes feel uneasy when breathing. i dont know what to do.
appreciate your advice and sharing
Holllllly c**p!! This is nuts! I have been having breathing problems for almost a year now! Have done all kinds of asthma tests and they wanted to do heart tests next.. but I have no money for that mess! I am on Yaz too. I actually didnt take my pills last month bc my perscription ran up and I didnt get to the doctor in time... the breathing problems went away. Started taking them again.. the breathing problems are back! That's when I realized that it might have to do with my birth control. Then I came accross these posts! No more yaz for me! It's enough to make you go crazy!
When I was 16 I started I the birth control pill LEVLIN shortly after I experienced shortness of breath and was having trouble with any physical exercise as I felt I wasn't getting enough oxygen into my body and that was very stressful on me and my body. Multiple times i was taken into hospital where doctors would just brus off as a teenage girl having a panic attack. For two years I have been in and out of doctors, hospitals and specialists having blood tests, stress tests, asthma tests, lung scaas and ultra sounds. Eventual the doctors just said they don't know why I'm having such breathing problems and suggest I see a phycartrist as they think I have depression. Both mum and I knew this wasn't the case, 2 years on we looked into alternative holistic doctors. We found a women that actually wanted to listen to what had been going on and was interested in giving me a real answer. It was she who told me to trail going off the pill for a couple of months to see what that effect that would have, it has been 6 weeks since I took my last pill ... I am able to breath again and have my usual 18y/o energy back . I have been reading all these other post that have been saying its YAZ but I think it goes for birth control pills in general as. Have taken LEVLIN. I hope this helps other lady's experiencing this as I know this is a stressful situation to be in when the most natural thing in the world to do becomes if difficult.
I'm glad I came across this page. It is making really question the pill as I have been having lots of breathing issues for awhile now. Every time I start to run or do lots of exercise I get really short of breath. I might try going off things for awhile now to.
Exact thing happened to me. I started on Yaz and I eventually developed shortness of breath, along with neck and pack pain as well as a tight chest. Breathing became a daily struggle, I couldnt get air down! I thought I developed Asthma and I also got many tests done to look at reasons why I had a shortness of breathe but all came back inconclusive! When I look back, these symptoms did seem to start around the time or a little after I started taking Yaz! I have just gone off Yaz and I am trialling Estelle-35 at the moment. I can already feel a HUGE improvement with my breathing since going off Yaz only after stopping it days ago!
Diane 35 actually has that effect. here are a few symptoms:
breast pain, tenderness, or swelling
brown, blotchy spots on exposed skin
dizziness
headache
increased or decreased interest in sexual intercourse
nausea
swelling of ankles and feet
unusual tiredness or weakness
vomiting
weight gain or loss
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, then the best thing to do is to go to your doctor and explain the situation. I hope it works out for you!

Now, my childhood asthma has returned, so It may not be the same boat.
Did you stop taking it? Did it get better?
I now have my super fun new super asthma under control, but the chest pain is killing me. It is almost constant and coupled with the exhaustion and exacerbated asthma exercise seems impossible.
