Had my gallbladder. Removed and the pain still comes!
I too have these exact symptoms. It doesn't happen every time that I drink, but occasionally when I have alcohol, especially if I drink it quickly, I get a pretty severe ache in both of my shoulders, my face and head feel hot, and I sweat quite a bit. These symptoms last for maybe 10-20 minutes and then come to an immediate stop, leaving me fine.
The only thing I can add about this to what's said here, is that I remember this same pain occurring when I was a child, but not from alcohol. I remember a few incidents of this shoulder ache after eating fast food, McDonald's to be specific. I wonder if it might be sugar-triggered from pounding a big soda or something of that like.
I'm positive it's not lymphoma, because I'm 37 now and I can recall these aches from as young as 8-10.
I do feel better to find that it isn't JUST me that has this reaction, but it does make me puzzled as to the cause.
This in no joke. I had the same issue fir 7 years and finally got it checked and was told i had hodgkins lymphome stage 2eb. It was my neck and right chest lymphnodes. Im 14 months onto my chemo. It had affected my right lung quite badly. Please do not ignore these effects.
I have the same issue along with my twin brother. I found that it is linked to sugar based beverages. If i drink a rum and coke I get acute chest pain and curl into a ball for 20-30minutes. Nothing with beer unless I have a coke or a juice after. Malt beverages are a no go along with most mixed drinks with sugar. Rum and diet coke are ok. I noticed a slight sugar taste in my mouth too. I think it may be linked to kidneys. I read about renal glycoseria which is a possibility But I have no diagnosis officially and is rare.
Agreed I found the same thing. I recently found that I was passing sugar through my system. Not supposed to happen. I have found renal glycoseria as a possible suspect but no official diagnosis. My doc doesn't believe me.
Hello, I've read your comment, it isn't the gallbladder because I had mine taken out and the I still get the pain after drinking mix drinks :(
Oooo wow I'm not alone ... This has happened to me several times but it doesn't happen all the time. Today for example I had a patron margarita and my should started aching severely then I got really nauseous. Last week I had a sangria and the same thing happened. I'm going to start an experiment with different types of alcohol and see what happens ... Also my doctor did tell me recently I had acid reflux I don't know if that had anything to do with it. also I had spicy food before the drink
Also had this problem, for over 18 years. Happens when I drink some Colas, malt beverages, margaritas, hard lemonade.
Only ever met one person who also had this particular problem. (offline that is)
I have an intense cramping pain in my shoulders that radiate up my neck and down my back. It hurts so bad. I am having the a track right now. I discovered it when I was 17 and drinking liquor. It seems to happen when I drink too much liquor too fast. Tonight as I have my attack, I didn't knot eat dinner and had 3 bloody Mary's and a ICEE with vodka. Yes a weird combo. Just seemed to work out that way. I don't know if it's the processed sugar or too much alcohol too fast in a combo of no dinnwr
This is crazy this happens to me when i drink faster than i would normally this isnt just alcholic beverages. The pain i feel is around the top of my left collar bone its a bugga then subsides. My mother does have all the bs gastriod problem colitus and gerds. Its a bummer when i get this pain im usially feeli g bloated.

i have the same isue. but usually when drinking higher alcoholic leveled malt drinks. im nt sure what causesit but i have niticed that if i put ice in the drinks it stops the pain.
I have the exact same problem in my right shoulder. The first time it happened I was 18 and someone showed up to a party with a bunch of wine coolers. I had it happen another time with wine coolers as well a few years later. So I've never drank them again. It seems to do it with sweet drinks and so I stayed away from them as well. I am now 38 and rarely drink but just last night I had a few shots of tequila and went to dinner where I had 2 Dr Peppers and sure enough it hit me really hard. My gf thought I was crazy. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I guess I will go to the doctor and get checked out
I have same problem, only occurs with me when I drink sugary alcohol drinks. Never with beer. But when I drink any alcohol mixed with sugary drink, I get horrible pain from the right side of my neck, down through shoulder into my arm, excruciating pain, lasts for about five minutes. I have been to doctors for this, they put me on Prilosec, took that medication for a month, but same thing still happened. I would love to have a Margarita or a strawberry daiquiri once in awhile, but never will be able to. Nobody knows what causes this to happen. When I search online, the only clue I find is it might be Hodgekins. But, I've had this issue for 12 years, and no other symptoms of Hodgekins, so, basically, nobody knows why this happens. I can drink vodka mixed with unsweetened iced tea and I have no pain drinking that, because there is no sugar in that.
I noticed the same ingredient in the drink that caused my shoulders to seize up in the same way!
High Fructose Corn Syrup... thats my allergy and i have the same pain. Lay off of it for a while then have something with it and if you're allergic youll know.
