I used to only get a sore shoulder pain. A couple of years ago I started to feel it across my abdomen too. Now i get a cold sweat, my stomach swells so much and I feel the need to make myself vomit (helps a little).
I went to my doctor before and was given omeprazole and judgements about my drinking (I am not a big drinker). Going back to the doctor tomorrow So I will keep you guys posted.
I too suffer from the exact same issue that each of you is describing. My research has led me to believe that it is an issue with processed sugars. It never happens to me with beer but has happened drinking anything that has a processed sugar ie: a drink mixed with soft drink or juice, wine, ANY type of sugary drink like margarita, pina coloda ect. I have never been given a clear explanation by a medical professional but have mentioned it many times at doctors visits ect. For years, I have steered clear of any drinks that include sugars and it has made a huge difference. Also, eating well before drinking reduces your risk of having an episode.
I am so glad to hear that I'm not the only one, unfortunately, sorry guys. I have had surgery putting titanium plates put in my neck, and recently found out I need another one. My neck pain has moved down through my shoulders at times, I assumed that was the cause. My pain management doctor was pretty stumped when I asked him about it. I think drinking on an empty stomach is a factor, it is more common for me when I do so. It doesn't happen every time I drink, but I'd say probably around 75% of the time. I would like to know a little more detail about what kind of pain y'all experience. My shoulders are in pain, but it feels like it's pain from too much pressure, as if I had 250 lbs sitting on each shoulder. I thought it was just me until my sister heard me complain and told me see gets the same thing, which got me to Google this. Has anyone found any miracle workers for this? My Percocet doesn't really do much, possibly cuz I take it daily, idk. What I have been doing is getting 2 of my kick ass ice packs that last for hours, and drape one over each shoulder. It helps a ton, but could be because it's so cold it goes numb.
