Im 16 too, and have never smoked weed/other crud in my life. O.o but i still have this freaking huge pain in my left shoulder, and its killing me. D: It hurts when i breathe in, and hurts like hell when i go to bed. Wth is it?! My mom just says its because i slept funny, but sleeping funny wouldnt hurt this bad would it? And the weird thing is, my lower rib also hurts too. O.o specially when i press it. I havent fallen or twisted myself in any way...I havent done anything to majorly hurt it, yet it hurts like....well....a dislocated? Joint. But its not. O.o anyone know what the heck it is? D:

I have just returned from having a chest X-ray due to this. I have been told that it could be trapped air on the lung. Apparantly it is common in young male smokers. The medical term is a pneumothorax. I am currently awaiting results but it can be cured either by letting it pass or a needle into the chest to relieve the pressure, hopefully the former!!

I have the same problem and I was told it could be blood clot in the lung and have to go for a CT scan but I have had serious pneumonia in the past. Other explanations are, trapped air in lung that should dissipate by itself or a collapsed lung if your a smoker. Also tumors in the lung have a nasty habit of pressing against nerves in the shoulder area (most are benign). Or it could simply be cold in the shoulder. I would recommend visiting your GP to eliminate any possible serious causes.
Me too I'm really scared I want to know what it is. My mom said its a pinched nerve and I slept on it wrong

I Woke up with it...it's ok when I'm standing but if I sit or lie down it hurts like hell. I'd had chest pains the other day from a 4wk non productive cough and I still keep gettin a blocked nose all day too. Not sure if the pain is related. Nor am I sure as to why it even started. I assumed it was from sleeping on my shoulder, maybe the years of sleeping with my shoulder under my pillows has had enough lol.
I had this pain when I had bronchitis. It can also develop from a few other things- congestion, heavy coughing, smoking (this is a big one! when you smoke it terrorizes your lungs, and the results will be felt in several areas including the shoulders and neck/throat. I suggest not smoking weed or anything. Not worth the pain). Definitely drink a lot of fluids (Your pee should be clear/VERY light yellow), get some good vitamins in you, and stay away from the smoking for a bit, even after the pain goes away. Once you've had it once you'll be more susceptible in the future.
Im 19 i have the same thing going on on my side my shoulder and also up my neck. Little bit. My mom is a nurse and says its just from sleeping on it wrong which I think is true it also hurts worse if I take deeper breaths. Hopefully it goes away soon iv heard a lot of pains in the side are associated with shoulder pain bc tendons and stuff are all closely connected together
I have this problem cause I had an impact injury to my left shoulder the a nd the pain is muscular, itvtraverses your back & neck, either physio or a deep massage
You need to consult any respiratory physician and check why you can't breathe properly if you suffer from any pain in your shoulder area. You can also try seeking help from physical therapist.
Pinched nerves or joint problems.mcould be as much as straining your arm and it's not inflamed pushing on your body to much and it causes you to feel it when breathing.

I'm having the same pains. Extreme shoulder pain. I can still move them thankfully BC I have a 1 year old. It just hurts all day long. Gets better after the days about over and I've been standing all day. Hurts like hell all night and in the morning. Cannot bear to lay in bed. Hurts my chest. Makes it hard to breathe. Goes down my arm and to my neck. I've been to Dr since its recurring. They believe is bursitis. But I'm having doubts.
