I've been reading all the comments on this and trying to find a common ground. My husband wakes up every morning sick also and often throws up. But one thing he has noticed is that is he gets to sleep untill at least 7:30 or 8:00 he isn't sick. It's when he has to rise earlier that he is ill. He has a very stressful job and hates it with a passion. And he also has some allergies that effect his sinus drainage at night. He took a Mucinex tablet last night before bed and said that he was still sick this morning. But possibly not as bad in the past. I think he is gonna try two Mucinex tonight with some water and try again. Do any of the rest of you possibly battle allergies? If so you might try this also.

I think it may be because your not getting enough to eat at night and after a long period of time like a nights sleep your sugar may drop a little and can cause your stomach to hurt and make you have a negative, out there mood! But if you wake up later then your body has had time to get normal to that situation and this is also why if you wake up a little later your not going to want to eat as much until lunch or supper! This may not be everyone's case and maybe some but if you have a sick empty feeling and mouth seems to produces a little more saliva than usual then this is probably whats wrong! and
your stomach isn't at the bottom it's smaller then you think and at your top left so if your having pains in the bottom then more then likely its bowel movement from something you ate the last night!

I know this sounds crazy but, do brush three times a day? Poor oral hygiene can make a person sick to the stomach. I have a friend that had horrible teeth, they had to take them out because they were supposedly making him sick and they were sensitive from rotting. Low and behold, he's fine again? lol.
Another thing would be that you don't drink enough water. We're all supposed to drink half our weight in ounces of water. For example, if you weigh 100pounds, you'd have to drink 50oz of water a day..nothing but straight up water(milk and juice are not water). Most of us don't even do that. Just adjusting this in my life, cured me of the chronic fatigue and nausea that I got after a couple years of having my baby. Ugh..two long years of being sick and incapable of watching a baby was no fun. Missed out on a lot, felt like a total failure because of it. Can't imagine what you're going through.

If theres something that is making you nervous or anxious than this can definately make you feel sick in the stomach, so much that you nearly vomit, or do vomit. However if there isnt anything that would be making you feel stressed or anxious, like starting a new job, having exams, etc. then there is probably something else.
My naturopath told me that feeling sick in the mornings can be a liver thing... So you could see a naturopath to get some supplements that help the liver, or, try drinking a quarter of lemon juice in water once or twice a day, as this helps clean the liver. Dont drink it though just before you brush your teeth as the acid in the lemon and brushing your teeth may eventually wear away some enamel.
I felt sick every morning after stopping the contraceptive pill. Usually from midday the nausea subsided, but not always, and then the next morning i would feel very sick again. Thankfully its nearly all gone, I think i have most of the residual hormones out of my body... but medicines and other lifestlye habits can take its toll on your body.

It is chronic Dehydration. Some bodies don't retain enough water to carry you through the night (my guess is its due to sodium). Makes your stomach acid more concentrated, can also cause cramping and pains in the abdomin. Hope this helps somebody, it took me a long time and too many doctor visits for this fix. :-|

I'm a 41 year old female. I don't smoke or drink and I take vitamins everyday and drink plenty of green tea and water. Basically, I do everything I'm supposed to do to be healthy but I'm still not. I wake up sick to my stomach every day (I'm not pregnant). I feel like I'm going to barf the first hour of every morning. And then I sluggishly get through each day. When I get home from work I want to go straight to bed instead of eating dinner with my family, ect. I feel like c**p most of the time. I had blood work and everything was normal except that I was low on Vitamin D which is common in Seattle. I know I should exercise but I can barely walk to my mailbox. I also have body aches in my lower back and I don't sleep well because of it. Any suggestions? I've been experiencing this for six months now and I feel like I'm never going to feel good again.

I have to repeat what has already been said about the glaringly obvious fact that most of the people who get this are out of work! Or working excessive hours and not getting enough sleep.
I personally think it is a type of stress. I get this and its chronic, sometimes I can't move or speak I feel so ill. But it passes if I stay relaxed (which is hard because its frightening) or my boyfriend talks to me and strokes my back. I have mints by the bed for dry mouth and open the window for cool air. I am very happy, not really stressed but have had a really stressful year. When I wake up, esp in winter, I just feel disorientated and scared when I wake up and its still dark. My brain and body is not ready to get up and I get a kind of 'brain sick' feeling. I can barely open my eyes.My head hums. It's awful and frightening. BUT it does pass and on days I wake up naturally I dont get it. I am very happy at the moment but I think this is stress from the past. STress has got to be one of the weirdest things on the body and I think this is what is happening. I also get really crampy when all this is going on. legs, esp.
I think if you get these symtpoms, really ask your self are you happy and relaxed? Or are you stressed? And then do whatever you need to do to get yourself happy - even if it is drastically life changing.

It may be something to do with low blood sugar in the morning. I suffer with this and have done for years. Try sucking fox's glacier fruit, works for me, after about 20 minutes I start to feel better.

have you tried light therapy? it might be that you have seasonally adjusted depression and you're not getting enough light. what it might mean is that you're producing more than usual amounts of melantonin. ever had jet lag? it's a similar feeling..

I would have to agree with Dan on this one. I got this exact same issue. Every single morning when I wake up.. I got this terrible nasty, anxiety feeling in my stomach. Its usually the worst in the morning.. sometimes I feel it during the day... but I can deal with it. I gotta say after reading all of this... it may have something to do with being out of work for TWO YEARS and not being able to find a job... while my savings dissappears. I gotta say... the remark of not having a job.. really opened my eyes. ITS STRESS! Lets all thank the bilderburg group for feeling this way!! They planned it this way.

So I've had this same problem, its almost like hunger pains, it doesn't matter if I drink water, or anything anyone else has recommended, the only solution I've found to what I've been having problems with is eating something, I mean a full meal, I could go eat a cracker and it would go away, only to return 20 minutes later. the pain is worse than hunger pains, but in the same category of that feeling, I read up on Gastroparesis and believe this may be what I have, but would eating something cause the pain to go away?
to help describe the illness I have better is like hunger pains, but worse, I get a "bubbling" feeling in the pit of my stomach that works its way up my esophagus, then the pain kicks in, as I sit here now I'm having this problem, it doesn't hurt now, but when I get the "Bubbling" feeling, the pain will come right back..
the bubbling feeling if no one can figure it out what I'm talking about, I will try to explain the best I can - it's like theres an aired up tire in my stomach, and it was punctured with a very very tiny hole, and is submerged in water, it starts to bubble like champaign (small bubbles) - sorry for the silly explanation, but thats how I would describe it to a doctor so he would get a better sense of what's going on, alot of mornings I can't just wake up and eat because it makes me sick, but its the only thing I can find to get rid of this pain in my stomach in the mornings.

I would tell you if I was overweight, had bad/good teeth, smoked, or was on any meds, but as I've read on over 100 posts from various webpages, none of this matters as I've seen numerous peoples posts with my same symptoms, (not just everyone that said my stomach hurts every morning)
as you can see I try to go into detail with everything, which is how I conduct research...
I also thought Candida was just a female thing, but I've noticed men can get it too, I cannot afford to go to the doctor, if I can get some info here, and try some other things out, and they end up not working, I will have to see a doctor, incase I have an internal infection.

two possibilities are Candida, and Gastroparesis, any others I could add to the list? unless someones knows right off hand from my description.

I've got the same problem, and I've also been researching it for 8 months (had the problem for 9 months now) recently discovered that it was
Gastroparesis - a condition that reduces the ability of the stomach to empty its contents, but there is no blockage (obstruction)
The cause of gastroparesis is unknown, but it may be caused by a disruption of nerve signals to the stomach. The condition is a common complication of diabetes and can be a complication of some surgeries.
ok, first off I want to start by saying, how have Doctors not figured this out? "A DISRUPTION OF NERVE SIGNALS TO THE STOMACH" I guarantee most everyone with Gastroparesis has BACK or NECK problems (pinched nerves, or swelling of some sort).. as we all know, or if you don't know, your nerves run down/up your spine, and it is very very possible that swelling can cause a disruption of nerve signals to your stomach, in turn causing Gastroparesis...
anyone with this "i feel sick every morning" should specify any injuries, or problems with the back or neck.
I've seen my Doctor several times, and I finally found out what I had, not the Dr. so I scheduled another Dr. appointment, and told my Doctor that if I figure out what I have before he does, then I want a free visit.. ( I know my Dr. pretty well ) anyways, I asked my Doctor if the other Doctors were busy, some weren't busy, and I had my Dr. call the others in the room, and told them all what I was dealing with in a short 5 minute period, all of them looked at me like, (wow, we all have no idea what this is) then, I paused for a second, and spouted out GASTROPARESIS.. they all laughed and said, so you're the doctor now, and one of the Doctors said that's not what it is, so I asked him to explain Gastroparesis to me (funny part was, he had to go get his "Drs. Encyclopedia") he started reading, and soon as he got to the disruption of nerve signals part, I said there yah go, that should explain everything, specially with my back problems.. the doctor closed the book and said, "you're right"
sorry for the story, but I just wanted everyone to see that Doctors overlook stuff once in a while, without conducting proper research, seems some of them would rather tell you "thats not what it is" rather than going and reading a bit on it.

and those of you who have been to the Dr. numerous times about your stomach issue, look into Gastroparesis, and take into consideration your back injury/problem, (sciatica - this is the most likely cause of Gastroparesis), or neck injuries/problems.
I am not a Doctor, so please do not diagnose yourself with the info I've given you.. (ONLY SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH YOUR DOCTOR, SO HE/SHE CAN DIAGNOSE YOU)

I'm the same way as well... Fine when I wake up and after about 15-20 minutes I get nausea, horrible stomach aches and just down right sick to my stomach. At first I thought it was because of lack of sleep but there were times I had plenty and still felt sick. Then I thought it was because I don't eat breakfast but when I tried to eat it only made it worse. I'm 18 years old and I've never smoked. It's been this way since I was young, so I'm not pregnant. When I was younger I went to the doctor for a similar reason and I was told about POST NASAL DRIP. It's where the mucus in your nasal passages move down your throat and leave a coating around your stomach. Sometimes it will leave the coating in your mouth and give you that really dry mouth symptom and If you try to wash it down or even swallow it, it will make you feel sick. I'm not sure if that's what it is but there's always that slight possibility. If anybody finds a solution to this "morning sickness"... please let us know! I don't want to keep waking up late just to feel okay. :s
