Hi, I am having this problem for the first time (I'm 28) this summer. It sounds exactly as described: small circular areas of dry skin that easily peel popping up on my fingertips. At first it was just two fingers, but now it has appeared on the other hand as well, and seems to be slowly spreading.
Recent changes in my life: it is a very warm summer (at first I thought sun-burns on hands?); I recently started a new job that involves cleaning and cleaning products -- though I usually wear gloves; I've been wearing surgical gloves that can make my hands very sweaty while they're on; as part of my job I've been washing my hands more frequently (a few times in a work day) with Gojo.
I also play some piano and guitar, but that seems like a strange commonality here...
I'll look up exfoliative whatchacallit in a minute, but it would really be nice to actually find out what is causing it and put a stop to it, instead of giving it a name and sayin they don't know why "X" happens... Like I said this is a totally new thing for me.

I have had this problem for years you have to constantly rub a petroleum jelly like substance called eucerin found at walmart on it until it goes away and when it goes away keep using the eucerin don't be lazy and think its gone because its not. Its caused by tines corpus (athletes foot) I do believe.

My hands peeled every summer from the age of 15 until sometime in my thirties. It always started with little reddish spots, then dry skin at my fingertips, then peeling from my fingertips down to my palms. Saw the doctoc...nothing. Then in my thirties I took oral lamacil for toenail fungus. And guess what? Haven't had peeling hands since. Hope this helps someone. I thought I was the only one.

I recently have that too. No itchiness or pain etc but a lot of peeling like you described on my fingers and front of my hand around the palm.

My daughter is experiencing this after an illness. Doctor says it is caused by dehydration. It doesn't have to be after an illness; many are chronically dehydrated and aren't aware without this symptom.

I'm having the same issues for years now and have tried all sort of creams and ointments that were prescribed for me but none of them are working

My daughter is now experiencing the same symptoms. I plan to bring up dehydration at her doctor's visit. And also Acral Peeling Skin Syndrome, or APSS.

My mother has had this for years... only in spring & summer, no cause ever found, she was even tested for being allergic to water but she wasn't. This weekend my husband got the identical thing... through exercising on grass!
