i think its called keratosis pilaris

mine started when I was little (2-7 yrs) normally it was coupled with bruises, but not always. They diagnosed me with ITP, a blood disorder that made me have a low platelet count. I'm not 22 and with in the last year or two I've been getting the red dots again randomly, but worse in the last month. Typically they go away with a couple weeks worth of iron supplements. That's the only thing I've found has helped. I don't think what I am getting now is associated to the ITP I had when I was younger, mostly because the last couple blood tests didn't show anything. I would get a blood test done, just in case, but in the mean time try some iron rich foods for a little bit too.

Hi,
I have the same thing... happen to me you may have a form of hyperpigmentation. I just started getting them on my legs they don't itch or anything.. they come and go really. I think if your stressed out they usually come as well. Well for me that is. I run a lot too. I would suggest probably massaging your skin on the area with some lotion everynight and making sure to loosen up the blood vessels. It seemed to help me out a lot and they r fading. Also make sure to keep changing your razor out once it gets old. I went to my doctor too and they said they will fade but it will take awhile.. for them to go away. Mine officially took 6months to a year for them to clear up from what they told me. Unless you also could have used a product that affected your skin that was old to cause it. Like old Veet I'm thinking caused mine. I hope this helps.

i sorta have the same thing, im in grade 10. After playing volleyball, i noticed my wrists and thumbs were red and burning. after it went away i had these purple dots following the viens on my right wrist. with like, 5 scattered bigger dots on my left arm. i havent asked my doctor yet. I've had them for almost 5 days and theyve gotten lighter. my teacher said it looked like a rash, my friend had them once and said they were broken blood vessels. my mom said heat rash. either way it doesnt't hurt or itch.

so i've had these tiny red dots all over my legs, thighs, and arms for a while now, maybe even close to a year. i asked a doctor and he said it was irritation caused by tight clothes (i wear skinny jeans a lot) but i don't think that's it because most of the time i'm home wearing comfy sweats and stuff now and they've continued to stick around. i think what's on my arms is different then what's on my legs, because i heard you can get rashes on your arms from being stressed out a lot. i moisturize everyday and when i shave i do it very slowly and carefully, and even discontinued shaving for a month to see if that was it, neither of those are the reason why. also, just today, i put hydrogen peroxide on my legs to see if it's an infection or something.. it cleared up some of it and this black cloth like stuff came off on the towel i was using to apply it. but, now the dots have just come back the same as they were. i haven't worn any shorts, dresses, skirts or anything like that for a long time because of this. it sucks. oh, they don't hurt.. if anyone has any ideas how i can get rid of it or help it in some sort of way that'd be great. thanks.

hi same thing as other posters. Never had this before last year and they come and go at usually 3 days at a time. white male, 45 years old of Scottish heritage. pinhead or slight larger dots at base of toes, ankles and inside of thighs and on top of quads but legs exclusively. Thought they might occur after malt beer or red wine but not sure, could just as likely be spicy food allergy but given they are on the legs, furthest from the heart, I also think this might be circulatory somehow. Why would capillaries break overnight?

I'm having the same problem. I've always seemed to have circulation problems, but I tore my MCL on my left knee last year and since then I have been getting more of those red spots on my leg. I am still getting them on my other leg, and I just had a sensation of someone holding my arm too tightly so I looked down and they had just appeared. That's actually what brought me to this website. I had a physical last week and told my doctor so she ran some tests and everything came back normal, no lupus or liver disease. She blamed my poor circulation on the fact that I am a fit, thin young woman and said that cold hands and feet are normal for someone in my situation (I'm a dancer, exersizing daily :-) ). Something else that bothers me is that I get pains in my hands, kind of like my veins are too full of blood. That is the only thing my doctor is concerned with, but considering the fact that I am newly 18 and all of this is going on kind of concerns me. Oh, and I'm not really that pale. :-P

i have noticed these on the top of my legs i have about 8 spots and they look like burst blood vesels, i have not yet been to the doctor, and by the looks if i do go ill be waisting my time, they dont hurt or itch but as a few people have said. I take hot showers often sometimes 2, 3 times a day so possible dry skin, i also had very bad anxiety and stress these could also indicate as someone else said, but since they have come, i have lost a lot of stress and anxiety there for i gained 2 stone in weight that i lost being sick with anxiety, im 21 just under 6 ft i did weight 8.5 stone before now i way 10.5 and gaining. i am sexualy active can this be a sti? iv only had them 2 weeks. and only 1 partner. in 2 years.

ive had teh same thing for years now. after a while they dtart to "burst" into what looks like little purple lines. They are simply the begining of spider vines and are not dangerous but could be a sign of poor circulation.

Hi I'm 16 years old and a couple months ago I noticed about three small dots on my knee close together. They disappeared after a while(not sure how long) but a few days ago I got another dot above my knee. It then disappeared without me realising and right now I noticed another beside my knee. My mother doesn't recognize it and I'm worried it might be something bad. However it isn't itchy and I suffer no pain from it.

Hi..

I'm a 20 year old female.. I had this once. I was about 8 and my both legs were covered in red burst blood vessel-like dots. I was admitted to hospital and it was an issue with my kidneys not fully filtering blood, and causing my legs to swell and break out in these dots. I was on a year long course of antibiotics as a preventative. It cleared up, however, it's back. On top of my leg, near my butt.. just one patch. I'm beginning to worry!
