Hi All, I have had the same problem for years, and the main problem of having these chunks of mass building up is the small and the bad breath created by them. Have you noticed that even if you wash your tooth and mouth, the smell is still present and doesn't go away? well, this is because the sticky chunk is stuck in your throat.

I will go ahead and talk to my doctor now that I kow I'm not alone and explain the situation and then ask for my tonsils to be removed.

The cause: who knows the the cause but, I'm thinking that the cause could be related to a bad tonsil infection that wasn't treated properly and on time back in the day.

Thanks and good luck to all.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with these. Anyone who can help with the remedy, please help. It really irritates me and make so uncomfortable at times because I think it makes my breath smells as well.

This is called streptococcus or strep throat. It's an infection and it is very contagious. White clusters of smelly bacteria is not normal. Go to your md get penicillin, gargle with listerine, warm water with salt for you purist, and please just because you google it and other people suffer from it doesn't mean it's normal.

I have them too, It's gross/ smelly. I am now 33 and I have them since I was maybe 10 years olds, and the way to take them out is with a bobby pin.

I don't know if it's a coincidence but my 6 year old son is having them too. He hates the as much as I do, he says he spit them out while he is in class, I was told it's called tonsil stones and the only way to her rid of it is to get the tonsils removed.

Finally after 40+ years and thanks to the internet I now know I am not the only one with this problem.  I first had one of these awful things at 14 and thought what the heck is this. It had a very bad odor. For years after I did not have them again and I was not even sure where it came from. As I got older I would know one was back there just by a bad taste in my mouth. I now have learned to really look back in the creases of my tonsils and I try to work them out. Usually I only get on at a time that I can see. I have also coughed and gotten a few at time up they are awful but at least I know that I am alone. Sometimes mine may look a little more yellowish green too.

Thank you so much for your honest responses! I just sneezed and choked up the biggest one I have ever had and never smelled it before now. It it like death! I will most definitely try the finger swipe method to try to keep them at bay. "Little brains" so funny and accurate!

I have just noticed these after having tonsillitis for a year. After a little research this has worked. I use my opine flashlight and an earbud to push my tonsils and force any debris out. Once this is done I the wash with three different mouthwashes followed by salt water. After two weeks of these I don't need to do it anymore and my tonsils are back to there former glory. Please bear in mine I had sever tonsillitis constantly and my tonsils were bleeding. Now I've found the problem I'm sorted. Good luck

No, it''s just food particles that get caught in the tonsils during swallowing. Only people with large crypt openings get them.

Lol A lot of your replies are so funny. Ive never had this before until I got pregnant and I'm pretty sure Its because of my indegestion and such. Food gets stuck in the back of my throat I guess and I get the nose drips quite a lot so that could have something to do with it. I tend to mostly get them at night when sleeping. But yes I really wish there was a simple cure without me having to gag myself and vomit. The stench on these things are not pleasant.

Just so you know, I'm a vegan -- haven't had milk or *any* milk products in about 16 years and I still get them occasionally..
