I have been smoking weed everyday in quite large amounts for 14 years and decided two months ago to give up. The difficulty was not a physical addiction but a lifestyle and metal one - it was a habit. I replaced it with new hobbies so that i had something to do instead of sitting around getting stoned and (I kid you not) within 3 days I did not miss it at all, my natural sleeping patterns resumed quickly. I was dreading giving up and I'm shocked by how easy it has been. The downsides? Night sweats for 4 weeks were not sexy but they are gone now. The upsides? I am saving about £40 a week and have lost nearly a stone (from not munching all night/every night)
It will be interesting over the coming months/years to see what difference it makes to me. I cannot really remember 'me' without it, and have never known myself as an adult without it. I have suffered from depression since I was a young child, but many have blamed the weed. I thought I would notice an immediate difference in me....not yet XD I am interested to see if my mood swings change or my memory improves. I would like to add that, while I have given up, I was not the stereotype of an unachieving smoker - I have two degrees and I am a high-school teacher. I am not proud of smoking it but I think that there are far more negative effecting drugs out there - many perscribed by doctors and of course alcohol.
Lastly - if you take anything into your lungs it WILL lead to a higher risk of cancer, as anything will.

I totally agree, maryjane can be fun and helpful for some situations. It clears my mind, and takes alot of stress off me while doing homework for university. but also plays a negative role on one's health long term effects especially. Also majority of medicinal marajuana is perscribed only when pain is unbearable or they are given a estimated short life span left. They don't prescribe it because it cures diseases. They prescribe it so the patient can have a better quality of life mentally. fucktards. Also i've been doing marijuana for 2 years now. Judging from when i've started till now i can strongly say its deteriorated my health in regards to my heart pace, breathing and infections. I've been dealing with a bacterial infection in my intestines now for 5 months, due to marijuana use my immune system isn't able to fight it. Even with anti biotics it still seems to come back.

One more thing pot "wouldnt be leagal to medical patients if it was harmfull " I think geust should take some benzos like xanax or ativan for a month or two and try quitting those see how HARMFUL these drugs really are. Before readnig any of the BS some of these people post do your own research. CANNABIS is a drug that leads to schizophrenia it ups your chances by 500% ..not too mention a billion other things it could cause

No drugs = good health

BJamin, you seem very angry. chill out.

CANNABIS has NOT been shown to lead to schizophrenia. there have only been associations with it. the author of that article above used a very good example of association, "if i performed a raindance, and it later rained, imagine a newspaper article coming out with the headlines reading, "STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT PERFORMING A RAINDANCE, CAUSES RAINY WEATHER TO OCCUR"" in essence, i could create an association between EVERYTHING.

that is what scientists have come up with, regarding cannabis and schizophrenia. without isolation of the cause and effect (explained in the article) there is no scientific evidence that weed causes schizophrenia.

so please, rage somewhere else kid.

Just because you see these so called "facts" through research does not make it right. Look at how they discovered how supposedly weed kills brain cells (which it does not) They used monkeys as test subjects and put a gas mask over their faces (im not making this up, please google it) and then constantly put weed smoke in the mask with barely any oxygen going through which in return caused the killing of these brain cells. It wasnt the weed, it was because of the lack of oxygen going into them. Many people believed it but it was not true. Also........cancer? COME ON. Yes you can get tar in your lungs because of it but its so small that your lungs actually get rid of it or "filter" it out unlike cigarettes which make a lot of tar. There has never been a reported case of Lung Cancer that was caused from smoking weed. Get your sh*t straight before you bash on these other "pot smokers" with their "non-research" ideas BECAUSE some of them are actually right :)

As a past weed smoker for years, very moderate, one bowl a night and sometimes going for months without it, the only thing I can say is if you smoke it regularly it makes you feel relaxed, content, etc. But I noticed sometimes more depression, feeling sad and sometimes minor anger without it. I feel it is a state of mind and nothing you can not control. I am against minors smoking, against smoking pot  all day and also for legalizing pot with the same rules as alcohol. I feel it is wrong not to allow pot for anyone sick, terminal as sometimes it is the only thing that helps. Pot is safer than most of the legal pharmacudical drugs they are pushing today. It is a common sense issue, pot used in moderation is not going to harm anyone. It is a recreational drug just like alcohol but much less addictive and harmful. Just my opinion.

Even tho you may not have physical negative effects it does not mean there is not side effects from smoking. If you quit it will not be simple. If u detox u will have insomnia, night sweats, headaches, mood swings and a variety of other things. Trust im going thru it right now after nearly smoking everyday for 5 years.

okay, im 16 and i will actually answer the question right now, i smoke weed everyday i plan on stopping when school starts and i know quite a bit about pot, such as strains, effects on different strains, side effects ( primary effects and secondary effects). White tongue on pot, is the focus of this conversation. smoking weed burns your tastes bud like smoking does because of the hot smoke. The gaps from the tastes bud are then sticky and grip the smoke on it, causing it a light white. the solution to this is stopping smoking, ( depending on the person cigarettes can be used) and dip your toothbrush in a mixture of baking soda (levure pour les francais) and lemon ( un citron) and brush your teeth with that and toothpaste. within the first time you will see and feel better :)
