Hello! my kid is 3 years old now and I have noticed he has like some kind of eyelid growth and it practically seems like his eyelid are swollen and I am afraid now his eyelid could grow even bigger, it seems like he has some extra eyelid skin and plus his whole eye area is so dark. I would like to hear some good info about this eyelid growth and could this be removed somehow. Thanks much!
Such eyelid growth is usually being diagnosed as Crouzon syndrome and it is caused by the gene FGFR3 mutation and eyelid growth usually comes along with the condition called acanthosis nigricans and in this case this condition is usually treated as two different pathology cases for both of them originates from different genes but usually comes along. Anyway the main symptom of Crouzon syndrome is usually manifested in some kind of eyelid growth and it usually affects the eye area causing sometimes even its hyper pigmentation. It could be treated surgically but it is long way to the final result and sometimes even few surgeries are required but the final effects are always worth it.
