I am 19 year old female, healthy and non smoker (aside from the very occasional mini cigar). For the past week or so I have had a strange pain in the right side of my throat. It hurts slightly if I push in the area, but I can't actually feel anything from the outside. I first noticed it when I was eating hot food followed by a cold drink. Each time I swallowed the food or drink, it hurt in that area (but not the same kind of hurt as with tonsilitis and such which I have had many times before). Although the pain was strange, it wasn't too bad, so I just forgot about it, dismissing it as one of those weird pains that can't be explained. But yesterday, I just rested my neck on my boyfriend's shoulder, and suddenly I got this blinding aching pain from the same area of my throat. It hurt so much, I got myself (and my boyfriend), into a bit of a panic. The pain dissipated after about 10 minutes or so but didn't go away completely. There is still some lingering pain this morning though, depending on what position my neck is in.

Does this sound like something serious, or just one of those harmless random things? There are no other symptoms. I don't have a cold, there's no coughing, no hoarseness in my voice or anything, and it's only on the one side of my neck. I know what it feels like when the lymph nodes and that are swollen because of laringitis or tonsilits, and I know it isn't that. I've never had anything like it before.

Thank you in advance for any advice!
Have you eaten anything shape lately? I've cut my throat by not chewing a chip all the way and it was very painful to drink anything for a couple days after. If it persists and doesn't go away anytime soon I would maybe get it checked out! Good Luck!
