I have one right now too. Its painful as hell, but I've had them before, and the best thing to do is just wait it out.
Take some advil if the pain is too bad.

The last time I had one, I popped it when a little white head came up though. The pain wasn't THAT bad and I felt way better after. I guess the problem with popping it yourself is that it might spread, so maybe that isnt the best idea.
And yeah, hydrogen peroxide doesn't really work when its under the skin.

Man, I don't know what peoples problem is. I get pimples in my ear all the time. Yeah, they hurt, but popping them doesn't hurt so bad I wouldn't do it. They go away much faster after they have been popped. I would rather deal with a few seconds of pain, than deal with it for days at a time. It's just difficult to pop them due to where they are making it difficult to reach them correctly.

i also wear in ear headphones. coincidence or not? and have had 3 pimples in my ear (one right now) the first one i left for a bit then i went to feel it and accidentally pushed all the puss n stuff out n wasn't 2 bad pain wise. the second one was in the same spot a couple months later and wouldn't pop so i waited it out and only hurt if i touched it. it eventually went away. this one is the same so im going to wait it out i think.

I've been getting sore spots on my ear a lot lately and found this site. I have thick curly hair and have to use a lot of conditioner in the shower, followed my leave in cream and gel. I think this could be causing it so I suggest that when you shower...after you rinse out conditioner--wash your ears and after the shower DRY thoroughly...conditioner drying on your ear could clog the pores in your ear and anything left wet breeds bacteria which is why you should dry your ears thoroughly after (qtip..cotton ball, etc). also, I agree that ear phones carry a ton of bacteria so you should use antibacterial wipes to clean them every few times wearing them if you are prone to getting them a lot. hopefully these tips will work for me as well

dood just wait until it is raised and pop it , sometimes that is the only way. it hurts like hell but once the pressure is off and it lances it's fine almost immediately.

Okay so I have one in my left ear. And my mom thought it would be a good idea to pop it with a Bobbie pen.(yeah I know right) it was horrible it hurt so bad I was in tears. This was last night. And it made my whole head hurt and swelled up to the point where I could barely hear. Now today my whole ear is really red and big and she wanted to try again and I swear I would beat that women if she did. Now it is biggier and worse then before if it's not better by tomorrow should I gk to the doctor? What will make it hurt less?

I started getting these periodically (every 6 months or so) when I was 16. They are so large that I can't hear out of that ear. Forget touching that side of the head! My mother used to use the round part of the bobby pin to lance it when the head was well-developed. As you can guess, it hurt like CRAZY! And, there was always a tremendous amount of puss. I have learned that waiting for it to pop on its own is best. It hurts much less, and they typically pop while I'm asleep. Of course, the puss wakes me up. Anyway, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one to get these. The good news is that as I've gotten older, they occur much less frequently and are smaller.

Mine hurts so bad and its so big, i was trying to pop it all day with no luck and boy did it hurt..but by the end of the day i was able to pop it and a bunch if pus came out, it felt like automatic relief when i did..the best feeling ever...the only bad things is the pimple/abscess only went down half the size it was. I guess there is still a lot more puss in there that doesnt want to come out or hasnt surfaced yet. Im going to try to get the rest out in the am. This is the 3rd time in the past 6 months that this ear pimple has come back and each time I have popped it and got all the puss out, but this time it is by far the worst and largest it has ever been.

Leave it alone. These pimples as annoying and painful as they are will take care of themselves. Popping them is a terrible idea. The pain is so immense it is well beyond description. Soap and water to clean, possibly a dab of rubbing alcohol just don't pour it or anything else into your ear. Don't touch it. Just let it be. Of course see a doctor if it persists or becomes unbearable.

No joke, put preparation H on a q-tip and apply it to the pimple in your ear. It takes the swelling down and it makes it more tolerable. I get these about once a year and it makes me crazy.

I have one right now as well, but I wasn't too worried when I noticed it because I've had them before. This ones swollen to the size of a pea and has been aching all day. I got fed up and tried a number of popping methods with no success. I tried scraping then eventually stabbing with an exacto, stabbing with a safety pen, and squeezing as hard as I could. I'm just gonna have to wait it out with some tylenol I guess. Any tips to avoid this in the future? I've washed my ears regularly since the first one, but apparently that's not good enough because this is my worst yet.
