I have a question. When using the Lidocaine do I spread it all over my testicles? Also when using the paperclip method do I have to touch each angiokeratoma more than once? Is this done nightly or once a week? Thank you!
I've read this entire thread and am going to try the iron/paperclip method tonight, but was wondering if anyone has ever tried the tweezers and dried ice method.
I've read about it on other sites and apparently you can just get some dried ice and break it up into tiny pieces and then take a pair of tweezers and hold a small piece next to the Angiokeratoma for awhile and this will kill the tissue.
Was wondering if anyone had tried this method for comparison?
is angiokeratoma circumscriptum and Angiokeratoma of the Scrotum the same thing?
@ Guest 8/24/13: I believe "angiokeratoma of the scrotum" is the location. Angiokeratoma circumscriptum is the skin condition. When the doctor says "we don't know what causes it," I perceive that to mean "it's benign, there's not enough people with it for it to effect us, therefore we can't afford to care." Strangely, this thread seems to be the most comprehensive collection of sufferers in the world, so I would like to post my observations.
-I have penile angiokeratoma, with nothing on the scrotum.
-On my body, I only have spots on one half of my penis. As it is for most men, my penis hangs off to the side. The side that faces outwards is the side effected. The side that faces inwards towards my body has none at all.
-I am circumcised. I have not seen any pictures of someone with penile angiokeratoma that has not been circumcised. That doesn't mean they don't exist... It's just my observation.
I can't help but feel the two are related. Nature put that skin there for a reason, so I'm tempted to hypothesize that penile angiokeratoma exists because that protective layer of skin has been removed. Perhaps it's wishful thinking; I would have loved to have a UTI or two as a child if it meant not having this condition in adulthood.
Hello- I have been reading these posts for a few weeks now. I am female and have some spots on only one side that appeared over the last year and a half. Some spots are raised and some are flat. I bought a soldering iron and it took me 3 days to get the courage to do it. I used a prescription numbing cream I had for electrolysis and laser hair removal. When I got the laser hair removal, they would never go over that little area out of concern of what would happen. Anyway, I touched about 15-20 spots and only 2 popped :( the rest just kind of sizzled. One bled and scabbed and it has been bleeding a tad here and there for the last few days. Everything still kinda looks the same, though. I'm kind of bummed about it because I thought they would start going away by now after I burned them. It's been 3 days. I kind of want to try again already because I feel like I didn't do it good enough or something. They did turn a lighter color when I was doing it but now they seem dark again. Any timeline of if/when I should see any results? I only touched the raised spots, I don't see it doing any good to the spots that are flat with my skin.
I haven't found any sort of message board other than this one and I'm thankful because this sucks. Luckily my boyfriend doesn't care at all, but I care and I want them gone. Also, to the person who was asking about it stemming from weight gain, I disagree. I'm 110 pounds and possibly a few pounds underweight. I feel like you get them from pressure, sitting all day or any other reason you would have pressure in those areas.
I think I may have found a cream that gets rid of the angiokeratoma of the scrotum. I don't want to say what it is yet. I want to wait and see. If it's permanent or even helpful, I will come back and tell you what I used and did.
I have been following this topic for many months now when I first noticed these spots. I am a 22 year old male and had several of these spots on the right side of my scrotum but none on the left. These spots just looked like tiny blood blisters. They all appear on top of a very thin vein which appears pink/purple in color and don't seem to appear anywhere other than on top of this particular branch of veins.
I used the soldering iron and paperclip method. It took days to work up the courage to try this so I purchased a brand new iron and paperclips. To prepare I took a shower and dipped the clip in boiling hot water. Then waited for it to heat up. At first I tried doing this while standing but it was too hard to keep a steady hand.
I then used a chair and sat down and very carefully rested my wrist on my upper leg and carefully burned each one of these spots off. You only need to touch it for a fraction of a second but you may have to touch it there a few times in a row to fully cauterize the spot to get it to scab correctly. There were about 5 tiny spots less than 1mm in diameter and one larger spot which was about 2mm in diameter which was also the only spot which protruded from the skin and was actually noticeable.
After my first treatment most of them went away but there were still a few which didn't disappear after the first treatment. On the second treatment the spots scabbed over within a few hours. Unfortunately I had to work the next day so I must have bumped the scabs off while walking around. When I returned home from work I noticed slight bleeding where the scabs had fallen off. I dabbed them dry with a tissue and monitored the spots but there was no more bleeding after that. The ones which scabbed nicely are no longer noticeable at all it is as if these spots were never there.
In fact I am unsure where the spots even were there was no scarring at all for these spots. But for some of the others they did leave a small spot and the vein is still visible underneath.
My advice to those who wish to try one spot first to get over the fear of doing this and see how it turns out.
Hello everyone,
I'm happy that I found this thread! (sorry for my bad english btw.)I have only three or four of those nasty blisters, but one of them is pretty large (about 4mm), and it seems like over the time the blood clotted inside. It's pretty hard and dark now. Wow, that all sounds disgusting....but had anyone success with icing or burning something similar? I'm a bit hesistant because of the clotting and the size, also the tip of a paperclip would be pretty small...hmm.
Many thanks for any answer :)

So far so good with this technique. I used low concentration retin-A 0.025% on my scrotum to remove the top layer. Be careful; you can burn your scroum. I over did it and it started sweating. I had to put hydrocortisone, which is not good because more angiokeratomas appeared. But when I applied Lotrimin Ultra, the angiokeratomas receded and my scrotum is now pretty much free of these blisters.
I don't know what went right. Maybe the retin-A removed layers of skin so the Lotrimin Ultra was able to more effectively do its job. I don't know. I just know it worked.
I find that 99% aloe vera really helps keep the angiokeratomas on the scrotum at bay!
How many degrees is the soldering? I read the whole thing here and it is at 400F
And someone suggest a lowtemp Cautery tool, but somehow the lowest i can find is the bovie aaron aa02 low-temp adjustable fine tip 700°-1200° F, which is hotter than the soldering degree.
Should I buy the cautery tool or use soldering? Does the extreme heat makes a difference? Bovie aaron cautery tool looks good with its AA battery and portability.
have you perfected this kit? thanks BR
this has ruined my life... i wish there were a cure...
the solder treatment on the bigger ones doesn't seem to work...
wtf, i'm only 30 and this sh*t is happening to me... i'm too young to be dealing with this f'n bs.
some facts about me:
had varicoceles as a kid (and surgery)
circumsized
athletic build/ 170lbs. i exercise intensely
allergic to bee stings
i eat a healthy diet (low sugar/fat/sodium) intake
i also have a skin problem where it's really sensitive (when you scratch it I get hives for like 30 minutes)
i've taken milk thistle herbal supplement for liver health
i have regular fordyce spots as well
i drink tea almost every day (and coffee occasionally), I've heard caffeine can worsen fordyce spots.
also, my balls shrink a lot when it's cold... i wonder if the constant change in shrinkage causes the blood vessels to get messed up.
also, if you guys have regular fordyce spots, i wonder if angiokeratomas is just fordyce spots hitting the veins, and then getting filled with blood?
let's start posting any similarities, maybe we can find a pattern? damn, I feel like my life is over, this is like the last thing you want to worry about in a new relationship. fml.
also, i don't get how some of you are "ok" with this condition! i feel like a leper, except it's on my nuts! it's the most embarrasing thing that could happen with someone you're intimate with, i'd say almost on par with STDs, except not contagious. i mean i was reading the forums for just fordyce spots, and some of those guys said they wanted to kill themselves... angiokeratomas is like 10x worse... i'd be fine living with just regular fordyce spots...
in any case, i went to the dermatologist, and he mentioned laser treatment if it bothers me (but that it will come back)... he also mentioned no local anesthetics. has anyone done this? does it hurt a lot?
damn... i just want my life back... anyone else feel like life is over? and that they can't be themselves anymore?
