Is it better to practice a steady state or intervals on bike? What I want to ask is, actually, is it better to ride continuously a longer distance or to make short pauses after every few miles? I don’t know which option to choose. I’m a beginner and I wouldn’t like to tire myself too much at the beginning. So, what do you suggest?
Well, there are pros and cons for both options. You can for example try both of them and see which one suits you more. In my opinion, maybe it’s better to keep it steady and cover the distance you’ve planned, because I would, personally, lose concentration and dynamics if I would make stops all the time. That may seem like a better solution because you can have a rest at leas for a couple of minutes but it’s actually like you lose a continuity and after the pause you have to get back into form and start establishing your previous tempo and rhythm again. I don’t know, but I’d really suggest you a steady state.
