Hi everyone,
I saw a thread on the same topic that started in 05 and the last post was in Feb of this year. So I decided to start a new one...
For the last 3 years, I've had horrible bouts of stomach cramping to the point of vomiting every time I have oily food. It always happened in the middle of the night, after lying down, even when I ate up to 6 hours ahead of time. Vomiting brings no relief whatsoever and I usually fall asleep sitting up after an exhausting night. I know now that foods high in fat/oil trigger it so I try to stay away from those and have cut meat out of my diet, except for fish. My situation has improved but has not gone away. I've gone to the doctor for this a lot, she wanted to check out my gallbladder thinking it was gallstones...it wasn't, my gallbladder is fine.
I'm online now feeling the onset of another attack and I've found that pacreatitis symptoms are similar to what I'm experiencing. I've e-mailed my doc and am waiting for a response. Meanwhile, I just took a fiber supplement hoping that maybe I can suppress this attack.
Any feedback or suggestions would be awesome!

Well, it's most definitely a digestion issue. With the symptoms occurring after eating oily and fatty foods, I would have bet money on gall bladder issues. It still may be and your doctor may want to revisit that possibility. It's also possible that the pancreas could be involved. Let us know what the doctor finds.
Hi, I hope you find a cure, as this must be so painful and exhausting. I have the same condition, with bouts of intense vomiting a day after eating fatty foods. It shows up as migraine like symptoms, repeated vomiting, 12-15 hours of sleep and sort of a pressure under the eyes.
I found eating with a calorie cournting app (i use carbmanager) that counts fat, and not eating too much calories in one meal, as well as taking proton pump inhibitor medication has helped reduce the episodes. Also, I found lately that taking Gaviscon (an algae derived product) will sometimes prevent the duration whenever I see a crisis coming. Finally, when unstoppable vomiting occurs, I make sure to drink a lot of fresh water just before each vomiting, it strongly reduces the pain associated with vomiting on an empty stomach, and helps dilute anything that needs to get out. I hope this helps, this thing can get very debilitating and apparently all my organs are good, just very sensitive. Good luck
