I had my daughter 6 months ago by c-section and I am now experiencing heart burn & muscle spasms/ fluttering in my stomach... The only time I had heartburn was when I was pregnant with my daughters and now the stomach fluttering.. I dont think I am pregnant because I have an IUD put in. What can cause this???

That is so weird. I just had this feeling today. I had 3 ectopic pregnancies and two surgeries this year to remove my tubes. I know I cannot be pregnant and it was pretty uncomfortable earlier. Does anyone know the cause yet?

So, I have not had a c section, I am not pregnant and the spasms/fluttering can actually be seen in my UPPER stomach in between my rib cage!! Two days now, then I got some on my buttocks too!! I'm not exercising, though I should be!! I wish someone actually knew what this was!

I thought I was going crazy. I've not only had my tubes tied 11 yrs. ago, I don't have a uterus anymore. And I have almost been convinced that I was pregnant. I have four kids. What is moving in my stomach? Thank God I'm not the only one. Thank God for the internet.

I'm very glad I've found this! I had my first child 3 years ago, vaginal delivery, and just recently I've been experiencing this fluttering in my abdomen, it does actually look like I have a baby kicking inside me. It's ever-such a strange feeling, and I've been going crazy thinking my contraception has not been working! I have done 4 pregnancy tests over the last 4 months, all came up negative.
My doctor thought I was crazy, and just suggested that I was broody :-P!

I'm overjoyed that there are alot of women who have experienced a similar problem, I hate being paranoid that I'm pregnant again, one is enough trouble for me at the moment!

I am 23 and have had the same problem(?) with a fluttering, throbbing(not painful, but very annoying), muscle spasm-like issue in my lower left abdomen, about 2 or 3 inches down and to the left from my belly button. I have read all these posts on different websites as well and I notice that most are female... I am 6'3" 220 lb male. Muscular, but could stand to lose my little pooch on my belly. SO, I am just as, if not more curious than everyone else as to what this thing is! I am prescribed to adderall and take about 30-40 mg per day, and I take advil maybe once every other week for a headache or backache, etc. I have been more conscience of my food intake, in that I am eating less in order to lose a little weight (not eating before bed, eating a light bfast and lunch). So I thought it could be constipation, but I remain pretty regular (I go at least once a day).

WHAT IS THIS! bum, bum, bumbumbum... bum. and on and on it goes. feels like a muscle spasm or a baby kicking, which I don't know how that feels nor will I ever, considering I'm a dude. Weird. Can we get some answers please?

Like all others previous, I'm glad to know I'm not alone.
Mother of a 2 1/2 yr old (as of today, actually) and had a cesarean, spinal block, the whole shabang. My stomach has been doing this spasm thing for over a year now and I keep freaking out that I'm pregnant. Even when I was on the pill we were still using condoms.
My thoughts are that when I was pregnant and during my c-section, things shifted closer to the surface of my stomach so that I can feel them from the outside. Also, I think it's highly possible that my intestines are more 'kinked' instead of having the smooth curves you're supposed to have... all from being pregnant/having a c-section. Any thoughts on this?
I will definitely be asking my OB about this issue at my annual appointment which isn't for another couple of months. I really wish it would stop because I get it and then freak out because I had a couple of beers the week before. I have been taking pregnancy tests though and all negative.
Also, if I'm bending over and I start coughing, my abdomin gets a HUGE cramp to where I can't even straighten out. I can feel the knot and I almost have to push it back in to my body for it to go away. It hurts a lot and the area is very weak after it happens.
Has anyone talked with their doctor about it yet??
I'll try to post after I discuss with my doc.

OMG!! I had my first child 8 years ago and I have had the same fluttering ever since!!!! (she was a vaginal birth also) Its in the upper abdominal region and feels like a baby! Ive even felt it in early pregnancy! After reading a few of your posts, it seems a few of us have a few things on common! Either surgery or PCOS/cysts!!!

I had my gallbladder out after I had my first child.
And I have PCOS....

I wonder if either are the cause??? ;-)

hello i also have the same problem i am 27 and have had 2 children by c section. after my first child my stomach felt sore for years. Then 2 years after my first i had another c section and that went away but had other problems like the upper stomach pressure and if i dont get a lot of sleep i feel sick (use to be able to stay up 24 hours straight). I think that the feeling that something is moving is most likely muscles growing back which takes years for all the stomach muscles to grow back. I have noticed that since the c sections i seem to be a little more gassy than i was before but it seems like a different kind of gas (like its just trapped in there) but no constipation or anything. I did go to the er with this problem and they told me i was having bowel spasms.Code:

I have experienced the same thing; stomach spasms/fluttering in the left side of my abdomen just below my ribcage. It's happened a few times before, but doesn't usually last longer than a day or so. I decided to look it up today b/c I was curious and when I'm not doing other things it tends to be annoying. The symptom checker on webmd is pretty scary - it says it could be an aortic aneurisym, but as I don't have the risk factors associated (high blood pressure, cholesterol, age, etc), I don't think that could be it. I'm more inclined to think it's some type of muscle spasm associated possibly with dehydration, as I know lack of water/hydration can lead to muscle spasms. It may also be associated with a vitamin deficiency, but I wouldn't know which one--I typically take vitamins but haven't the last two weeks, which may have prompted my current spasms. I'm going to drink water and take my vitamins and hope it goes away, and if it doesn't i'll visit my doctor!

Alright, so I thought I was going crazy.. I tried to explain to my friends this 'feeling' I've been getting. I have been running around going crazy thinking I was pregnant. I took two tests and both came back negative but the 'fluttering' still occurs.. I have a 4 1/2 year old daughter that I delivered vaginally and this feelings i'm getting are the same as I had when I was pregnant with her but those 'flutters' were when I was 6+ months pregnant, I'm an average build and I couldn't possibly be 'that' pregnant.. Only until recently I've gone without sex so if I were pregnant, I'd only be like 5 weeks.. and I 'KNOW' that I can't feel fluttering this early.. is there anyone medical professional that could help us answer this question of confusion? ANYONE? If you have an answer, please Thank you

27 years ago I had my spleen removed for staging of Lymphoma (which by the way, they no longer do this). Not long after I would occasionally feel a weird, squeezing or some type of movement under my left breast. My doctor said that it was probably just scar tissue or some type of spasm. It has been 27 years, it comes and goes mostly appears when i move a certain way, sometimes with a sit up when i strain my stomach. Recently, it happens when I cough or sneeze, but not every time. I thought I was crazy or that it was my heart as I also have leaking valves. Apparently, that area is not where you might have "chest pain" associated with heart problems. I wish it would go away, however, don't think it ever will. Sorry for all of your discomfort, but relieved to hear that I am not alone and that there definitely seems to be a correlation between some type of abdominal surgery and this complaint.

I'm 44. Have had children, last one in 99 was a C-section and had tubes tied right then in 1999. Today I felt those spasms on my left side, fluttering, tapping and like a twisting feeling. It went on for 20 minutes. Stopped a few hours and started again not as hard as earlier today. Very strange and scary. I am doing a lot of sit-ups lately and might have given myself a umbilical hernia but I doubt that and hope not! Plus I use a big exercise ball daily, maybe I stretched something too much. At least I know an organ didn't pop or blowup after reading some of your posts earlier today and reading more tonight. I want to thank everyone for posting, seems like it's an unknown medical condition or a new one.
