I to had my daughter 3 years ago and this fluttering won't go away came a couple months after her birth.
I have just started having this same thing!! My daughter is 5 months old and for the last 4 weeks I have been FREAKING out that I am pregnant again. My Dr thinks I am nuts as I have been to have 5 pregnancy tests in the last 3 weeks!! It seriously feels like a baby kicking on the left hand side!!! Driving me crazy!! I wish there was a way to stop them as they are so annoying!!
Well I"m the 44 year old a couple posts before this post. I found out I need a Hysterectomy. Having my menstrual cycle for over a month made it easy for my Dr. to determine my main problem. I just want women to be aware that Hysterectomy's happens to all ages and only after other treatments don't help. I'm actually looking forward to getting rid of the curse once and for all and my man is thrilled. Good luck to all of you in finding the reason for this scary jumping in your body.
Thank God I am not the only one experiencing this. It seems like a lot of women have this same problems but we are yet to get an answer as to why it is happening. I had a baby 2 years ago and he was delivered viginally-no sugeries. I have not had a sugery in my life however, since I had my son, there has been this fluttering in my left abdominal area, below my belly button and it feels like a baby kicking. I talked to a doctor about it and he said he did not know what it was. I am going to get an expert on this, because it feels so weird. I can't be pregnant because the 10 pregnancies test all prove negative, plus I have an IUD inserted and thirdly, if i were pregnant, I should have had the baby by now because these fluttering started more than a year ago. Someone needs to tell us what is going on in our bellies. I am scared that it could be something very bad. Hope and pray not.
hi there, I had a c - section 15 months ago now and im still getting those feelings. It's strange, it wasnt straight after that it started happening, a few months, and if im still getting them now then it must be normal. my mums friend is a midwife and she said it is a possibility that not all layers are stiched up, because they dont all have to be. she said it depends on the surgeon, some stitch them all up anyway, but some dont. It's not harmful or anything so don't worry, but she said it could be that your feeing your food being digested through your intestines because of this or it could be gas. i thought i might have been pregnant again and i was absolutely terrified! But its been well over the 9 months it takes for baby to come and i havent changed and there is definately no baby! :-D so again i wouldnt worry, i think its just something that happes after surgery because alot of people who have had their tubes closed i think thye say experience the same feeling. So im presuming the incision is in a similar place and possibly is causing the same fluttery feeling you experience when pregnant. i hope this helps :-D x
Hi everyone, found this forum after googling the symptoms.
I too have these 'phantom baby kicks' going on! Been happening the last 4 days. I have had 3 children, no c-sections. Saw my doctor yesterday and she said it was either abdominal muscle spasms or (and I can't remember the exact term) an amplified pulse through the artery. Both of them make sense to me as it's always in the same place but why has it just started and how long is it going to go on for?!
Glad to see I'm not the only one though! Did any of the posters here find a reason for their symptoms or indeed did it all stop?
Helen

Seriously why aren't there answers to this?!
I'm female and 26 and I've noticed maybe one or two of these before but now I'm being treated for MRSA and it's my period and I feel exactly what you guys are feeling nearly all day. Fluttering...like something wiggling in there in the lower abdomen kinda where I'd think my uterus is. It's not painful....just really eerie. My thoughts were also the same: pregnant or tapeworm.
I tried pushing on my bladder there to see if I could feel it and it's not my bladder. So I guess that rules one organ out....lol.
Guess we'll wait till 2040 when they've finally discovered the reason for the muscle spasms.

I totally thought I was crazy also! My daughter was born by c section 9mos ago and probably 3 months ago I started feeling the movements and got a little freaked out. I thought omg I can't possibly be pregnant! Test was negative and I still have the spasms. Its bizarre and I wish it would go away! Glad to know I'm not the only one though!

Hi everybody, my second child was a c-section (2002) for almost 9 years I have been getting gut renching muscle spasms. I had an internal/external ultrasound and nothing was found. Just today, while I was putting on a sock I got the spasm. My spasms make me drop to the floor and massage my lower belly. My belly feels like it's twisting and the muscle feels like its getting bigger. It's really scarey because it can happen every. Sometimes it happens when I'm towel drying my legs or bending over to pick a a light weight toy. It can happen when I bend to sit down. It once happen while I was driving through a tunnel and I drove in unbelievable pain while trying to massage my stomach. I am relieved to hear that other women have this so I don't have to think that I'm OUT OF MY MIND
wow, I'm reading through this and it sounds just the same as mine...
I'm 25, been married for 1 1/2, never been pregnant before, and having "fluttering", I am supposed to be on my period now, but haven't even had cramps yet, and last month a very light period came early...the fluttering is happening in the same place everyone else describes, two places on the left side, one right above my pelvis and the other to the left between my belly button and pelvis...
I am thinking it might be a good idea to take a test just to check, but like others have said (I haven't been pregnant before to know when a baby kicks) it seems like it would be too early to feel it anyway...
Good to know I'm not alone or crazy :-D

I am a 59 year old female with a fluttering twitch in my lower left quadrant of my abdomen. It occurs randomly and feels like a baby kicking. I have no other symptoms. It drives me crazy. Any information on this would be appreciated.
I'm seventeen and have the same thing going on. It's in my upper left abdomen, and on the mid-right section of my abdomen.
I'm not pregnant, but it feels like theres something moving. I asked my doctor and she said it was just muscle spasms, as you would get anywhere else (such as an eye twitch or a spasm in arms, legs, etc). It usually occurs in people who have recently lost or gained weight, or have been engaging their abs more/less than often. Basically, a change in activity or size is what USUALLY causes this.

I delivered my baby vaginally ten months ago and have been having fluttering/spasm in my upper left abdominal for several days - feels like baby feet like when I was pregnant. Thrilled to see similar symptoms here. But baffled...
