I experienced the same thing today and am wondering what it is too. It happened after yoga, then several hours later I have a stiff neck. Help!

If you fractured your c3 and c4 living in the moment won't stop the cracking and neck pain. Thankful not paralyzed but this namaste and shaming those with issues is way to trendy! I'm lucky I can walk, dance, yoga but I certainly was lucky. It's like Irma and Harvey....would you blame or give them credit for dying or being alive for not living in the moment? In Yoga I hear more and more people hear the wealthy non working people give advice to men and women who work for a living. I know it's the cult of celebrity but really????

My sister has the same problem but nobody seems to be able to help her. I think the only thing to do us get the MRI done just to rule out anything then do a lot of research. What about massage (deep tissue) and magnesium tablets. Head and neck strengthening exercises! Ashwagandah (herb) or muscle relaxants! These are only my suggestions some of which have helped me but I don't have sciatica or vertigo or neck problems. I hope you can get some help soon if not all that us left us SELF HELP. Doctors don't seem to tell you anything.

I have experience the same sensation daily for about a month now, Pop Rocks is exactly how I woululd desribe it, achey at times, thought is was a tumour growing and slowly cracking my skull, went to emergency for a ft scan, I got nervous and signed a release to cancel the scan, not sure what to do,

No kidding, I wish the doctors were more helpful Too! It is so frustrating. I have this problem also. It happened after a myofascial therapy where they rock the body back and forth briskly to lossen the fascia. 2 days later when I woke it felt like my entire head tighten up. And there was that sound. Crackely, kind of sounds like that pop rocks candy, or the sound of bacon frying. I also get a pulling sensation in my sinus area, around the top of my head and it also goes to the back, occipital area. I have looked into this for 21/2 years. If you have pressure and a pulling sensation in your head and it is there when you are sitting or standing but goes away when you are laying down, it could be intercranial hypertention. A CSF, or spinal fluid leak. There is a video on YouTube titled, The Mystery Head. It doesn't feel like a regular headache. It feels like your head feels heavy, tight, a pressure.

Try to find an upper cervical chiropractor in your area you may just need an axle or axis adjustment I believe the crackling noises I hear in my skull are my access and Axle and maybe some bones above them that go up into my head sometimes I think some of the plates in my skull around my ear and Ja w pop but I had a terrible injury which knocked my head off my axle after the upper cervical care I received for a year so my neck was loosened up to the point where I can almost manipulate it myself which feels wonderful but nobody's neck should be as least as my neck but at least I'm able to get the pinched nerves relieved at some point after the crackling

I have this sensation as well. I usually only notice it when I’m laying in bed. Pop rocks is a perfect way to describe the sound. There is no pain or discomfort associated with the sound. I have not been to a doctor because I have no pain.

Have you been checked for chiari malformation?
