Hi, i have been working out and eating better this whole summer. I have been also eating less. I soon noticed by stool was very tiny and skinny, it has a light brown colour and small amounts are pushed out. I blamed this on the small amounts of food i eat. I then, and now, eat more but the colour is light and comes out in small skinny bits.

Could this be related to liver or gallbladder? Please help
Hi tonv4

Sounds like things are a little amiss in your bowels. Its bile that gives your bowel movements their brown colour, so you're right in suspecting that something might be causing your liver to produce less bile - having said that, it doesn't mean that there's a problem with your liver - light brown stools can just indicate a low fat diet.

But tiny skinny stools certainly indicate an unhappy inflamed intestine.

To find out what's going wrong, and what's causing it, visit your local functional medicine practitioner or nutritionist-naturopath. They can do lab testing to discover what's happening, and show you how to fix it.

Hope this helps - let us know how you go!

Thanks Olwen. I totally understand the whole bile thing. Im definetly off the fatty foods. But sometimes i might go ahead and eat some mcdonalds, or some kinda meat and what not. But still, the colour remains light, and the size may increase, but it still has odd shapes and looks like it lacks any structure. Could this be a blockage? I mean, ill let it out, but during the end of my movement i struggle to squeeze out tiny bits. (literally, sometimes the peices are the size of pennies).

Thanks alot Olwen.

I totally understand the bile thing your talking about. And for sure, ive cut the fatty foods out for some time. But to test my self, (and bile health) i would eat more fatty foods one day like mcdonalds or some kind of meat, just to see. But the size of my poop would increase, yet the light colour would remain. This made me beleive something was up with my gallbladder or liver. But as for the size? I eat less, which is one factor, but near the end of my movement i struggle to push that last bit out. And when it does come out, its literally the size of a dime or a penny. Could there be blockage?

Hi Tonv4

When thinking about intestines and 'blockages', its useful to think of it in reverse - its usually not so much something getting in the way, more usually the intestinal tube narrowing so much that stuff has trouble getting through.

A professional diagnosis is the only way to find out what's going on and causing the problem. How do you feel about getting some professional help?
