As a doc who cares for high risk pregnant women I am happy things are going well. Taker your iron and folate as previas can bleed a lot. I am sure your doc will be taking precautions like extra blood and cell saver availablew if possible.
As someone who had a sterilization reversal and has a 5 year-old who I would never give up, I can understand the feelings of those who carry their accidental pregnancies after this procedure, but there is a real and definite risk in doing so. As for trying to get pregnant - you may step in front of a speeding train with the thought that you will probably make it across the tracks in time when you are single and have no responsibilities but if you are a parent already - forget it; it is irresponsible. If you are married to or involved with a man who would ask this of you, be sure he knows the facts. If he really wants to go ahead, I would question how much he values you. Otherwise, a surrogate is a perfect solution for you, and probably will cost less than your next vehicle.
As I said before, the time to solve this problem is in advance: Dont have the procedure if there is any chance of wanting another child ever.

You know what makes me so sad? I am due to HOPEFULLY have this surgery in a few months. I JUST turned 21 and have been having uterine bleeding with clots EVERYDAY for a year. I've been rushed to the E.R., anemic, bled all over myself, my bathroom, my clothes. I am having to PRAY a doctor will do this on a 21 year old with 1 child. I worry every day a surgeon won't accept my case. And it seems like some of you think that this was just a spur of the moment decision that you regret nearly as soon as you get it done. I would do anything to be healthy and happy and have this surgery, so people wanting to risk a child because you got a surgery over something like "heavy periods", it just completely blows my mind!

Try the Mirena(R), Depo-Provera(R), or continuous oral contraceptives if you are a non-smoker, myomectomy or embolization if the cause is fibroids.
The chief complication of sterilization is regret. About one woman in seven has this. A woman with less than two children is at higher risk. A woman who is less than 28 at sterilization also. Read the posts of the many women who pray for a (potentially life threatening) pregnancy after ablations.

I'm 38, I had an ablation over 3 years ago. I got pregnant last January, lost the baby at 8 weeks. Then I got my tubes tied. I am now currently 7 months pregnant. It's been a shock, even to my OB who performed both operations. Anything is possible if it's meant to be.

I was told I am still fertile enough to have a baby, you still ovulate, therefore you can still conceive.
My partner and I have been trying for a baby for two years, without success.

I had an endometrial ablation about 5 years ago. Unfortunately I don't remember which kind or brand it was. I have not been in a r'ship for almost the entire time since then, and have (obviously) not tried to fall pregnant; However I am someone for whom the procedure did not work AT ALL. In fact I had about 3 periods in about 6 or 7 weeks after the procedure. My body was bleeding as a result of the procedure. I have often wondered if the lining grows back, and how long it takes to do so.

How are your periods? Are they still regular? Same length and amount? Hope this isn't too personal.

I got pregnant approximately 10 years after endometrial ablation. I cannot stress enough please do not even try to have a baby after this procedure. As I write this I am in tears because almost exactly a year ago I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl who was a miracle. I had so much trouble during my pregnancy with muscle cramps that left me unable to move. I talked with my doctor about this and she kept saying it is just your muscles stretching and is normal. I asked her about having a succesful pregnancy after ablation and she said that we would just have to take it as it comes because she had never had a patient who had ablation and a successful pregnancy. I was monitored with ultrasounds every three weeks and was found to have placenta previa so I was scheduled for a c-section. I went in for my c-section which was supposed to take about 20 to 30 minutes. When the doctor was performing the c-section she could not get the placenta out. It had attached to the uterine muscles. The doctor ended up having to perform an emergency hysterectomy. I lost a lot of blood got out of recovery and into a room when suddently they could not even get a blood pressure on me. They took me for a CAT scan and I had internal bleeding. So I was taken back to the operating room and bleeding was stopped. My nightmare was not over for over a week. I developed ileus from the sedation and was vomting which after being cut open twice was very painful. Finally the seventh day in the hospital I got to go home with my beautiful baby girl. I ended up receiving 8 units of blood in the hospital which is unheard of so with all that being said I truely hope you take this to heart and do not jeopordize your life. It truely is a miracle that I have a baby girl and that I am here to enjoy her.

Your case sounds so similar to mine. I was 37 when I got pregnant after going through a miscarriage and then a tubal all in the same year. I hope that your pregnancy is going well and you are not having any complications. I can't stress enough to ask your doctor as many questions as possible. I ended up having what they thought was placenta previa so they scheduled me for a c-section which turned into a c-section and an emergency hysterectomy because I had placenta increta where the placenta grew into the muscles of the uterus. I am blessed to have a beautiful baby girl and blessed to still have my life. I ended up having to receive 8 units of blood. I do not want to scare you but just be prepared and make sure your doctor is prepared for any complications.
