I was feeling great even after my Pap test last year showed I am HPV positive. Now I have sudden symptoms manifested in abdominal pain and abnormal bleeding between my periods and sometimes even after intercourse. I would like to hear if these sudden symptoms may indicate I have cervical cancer for my last Pap test followed by colposcopy showed I have severe cervical dysplasia.

Hi there, being diagnosed with severe cervical dysplasia usually doesn’t mean having a cervical cancer it is only precancerous condition that can be treated effectively by leep or laser treatment and with many other treatment. I don’t want to frighten you but those sudden symptoms you’ve described may be a sign that there’s a cervical cancer but also may indicate some other condition such as endometriosis, fibrosis or even pregnancy. And since your colpo showed presence of abnormal cells and because of described sudden symptoms I suppose you’re advised to have some treatment such as leep is which treats abnormal cells removing affected tissue that is being tested by biopsy of cancer cells. And in case of cancer cells there’re usual treatments that shouldn’t be avoided: surgery and afterwards radiotherapy or chemotherapy depends on the cancers stage.
