two weeks into quitting. my chest pain seems to be my right lung. My guess is that as the coating of tar is removed from the inside edges of our lungs, fresh tissue that is usually encased in said tar is exposed, and sensitive. i hope it goes away soon. its pretty painful.

Some Doctors just shouldn't be-including that one! Smoked for 32 yrs. Quit cold turkey along with coffee because they literally went hand in hand. It's been almost 3weeks since I quit but the back pain, heavy chest & shortness of breath is horrible! Hot showers, heating pad or electric blanket help with the back ache. I'm told smoking is harder to quit than heroine, that I don't know? I am however very sure that cancer would be worse than these withdrawals!

Yea I had problems with chest tightness when lying down on the couch and doing simple tasks that didn't require me to breath deeply, even after 4 weeks of quitting but within a few days it got easier to lay down and I didn't notice the pains at that time. I think its got something to do with the position you rest yourself in or just the amount of mucus piled up in your lungs at that time, try not to worry too much
