Long time smoker, first time quitter, thanks for taking my call. All the same lung pain and feels like muscle knots just above the shoulder blades and sometimes down over the shoulders. Swelling in the armpit area. All these symptoms disappear overnight, then start again within 60 seconds of waking up. Going to see a doctor in a few days. Also appreciate the panic attack comments, same here in spades, haven't been able to concentrate since quitting 9 days ago (kinda bad since I'm the CEO).

OK. Wellbutrin and Ativan keeping the anxiety and other stuff at bay. Funny that one ativan amde me realize just how sick I *wasn't*. 28 days smoke free, walking 30 minutes / night 100 steps per minute.
I'm not over this by a mile, but I'm coping. And it gets the tiniest bit better every day, although it could hurry up for all of me.
two weeks ago I was pretty sure I was dying. If I am, at least I'm not coughing and hacking into the grave.

I am 20 and have been smoking also since I was 12. I started smoking heavy at the age of 15 until about a year ago when I started to cut down, one week ago I stopped for good and I get severe chest pains, feel like electricity going through my chest and arms , panic attacks often feel like I'm having a heart attack. But I've been to the doctor and they said my lungs are fine... This isn't the first time I quit and every time I do I get basically same symptoms . Pretty sure it's just your nerves restoring and lungs recovering

Ok me here again, I'm alive and disease-free after almost 12 freakin weeks off the dart! If I can do it .... yah you know the rest. 40 friggin years of smoking, 2 packs a day or more for the last 10. I'm a non-smoker now. It still hurts though, but it hurts a bit less every day.
Honestly, I have less self-control than Beiber, and less discipline than Corey Feldman, but I friggin quit SMOKING. You can too, over and out.

I am on day 5 of not smoking. I was a smoker for 10 years and had about 20 a day. I have this sharp pain under my left breast that is sharper when breathing in deeply. Also, woke up several times last night. Have you found if this is normally and will go away?

Reflexology is fake, watch Penn and Teller BS episode, it's the same as palm reading.

The red swollen hurting bronchial passages are healing.

It's a good thing.

P.s. chiropractors are fake too, don't hurt yourself with bogus medicine.

I have had costochondritis for 3 years now and it is because of smoking. The chest pains are only going to get better by ensuring I do not smoke tobacco. I am going to die if I do not stop. Not die now, I am only 32, and I realise it's only costo but screw this in 20 years time. The chest pains are happening with or without smoking, so I think it's better for everyone here that they are happening without it. I bought a vaporizer. 18 mg yesterday. High as a kite and really shaky today. Chest worse. Dropped to 11mg. Seems to be much better, Good luck everyone and get well soon.

Hey man... I am identical to you, so thought i would reply. 27 years old, smoking pot on and off but at times heavily, for about 10 years, and cigs about 5/6 years. I have quit all of them for 3 weeks and i am having serious lung pain and left chest pain, shortness of breath when quickly standing up and walking upstairs... Kind scary but my doctor told me its the nicotine withdrawal. She told me heroin addicts have said its easier to give up heroin than cigs apparently, so its a tough challenge! But i have faith it will go away... It does feel like an physical anxiety is causing the chest tightness.... And then when it does, i am so scared this time round that i really will quit for good! Just want to be normal again! : /

Ok, I'm actually quite glad I found this forum, I quit smoking both cigarettes and weed, just under 3 weeks ago and having the same symptoms as most of you guys. Serious pain in my upper back (across the shoulder blades and spine) pain in my lung, about ten minutes ago a sharpish pain in what felt like my left lung as well as pain/pressure across my chest. I'm 42 and smoked pretty heavily since I was 17. I've been terrified I've got everything from lung cancer to the beginnings of a heart attack. I'll probably go see my go soon just to check, but I feel a bit better knowing this now seems relatively common. They don't tell us this when advising us to quit, still they?!?
