Thank you for sharing your stories. Very sorry to those of you who have lost family members or close friends. My 8 year old niece just got diagnosed osteosarcoma today. I'm reasearching everything I can because my sister is understandibly so upset she can't talk much about it. My niece was running around and fell over labor day weekend right after we all BBQ'd and thought she broke her wrist (i guess she has been complaining about mild arm pain for a couple weeks now too). An x-ray, mri, and biopsy later this is where we are. A lesion on her wrist bone that appears to have spread into the tissue. Tomorrow is the full body scan to see if it spread. Chemo starts next week, followed by surgery, followed by more chemo. And that's if things go well. I can't believe it.

it was most likely do to a lack of nutrition. cancer patients have trouble consuming and keeping down the food that they are able to eat. as a result, the body becomes very weak and more less begins feeding on itself. so its more an issue of starvation, than an issue of the cancer having ate him to the bone. but whats the differance right, the damage has been done by that point. this is in no way a professional answer, as I am no professional. I am sorry for your loss

cancer patients have great trouble both eating, and keeping down the food that they are able to eat. as a result, everything begins to suffer. energy levels, mental focus, strength, physical appearance, and ability. just about any and every thing you can think of, that has to do with normal body functions. it was most likely an issue of starvation, rather than an issue of the cancer having ate him to the bone. Im not 100% on it, but I don't think that the dieses eats tissue. actually just the opposite. it seams to add mass if any thing. in the form of tumors and what not. but mind you, I am no professional. im sorry for your loss. and I hope I have helped

I wanted to put this out there for hope to anyone dealing with a family or friend with Bone Cancer.

My mom had breast cancer and was clear for quite a few years, however it metastasized into her bones. Caught early on-count of a car accident...She is on her 7th year at the age of 73, still going, maybe not fast and is tired, but she is a fighter and has a will to live. Her blood counts ( how they check hormones/cancer growth) went from 4,000 down to only 65, for me she has beat this thing called cancer. Its unfortunate all the medications to get her to this point for all those years have made her very tired.

Dont give up, I have enjoyed making sure I do things with my mom and making special moments for memories, not all have a guideline to know when a loved one or friend may pass. Make the best of it.

I had osteosarcoma in 1963,when I was 14.I am now 64 and still alive.I received radiation treatment only once no chemo. The following morning my leg was amputated.Has anyone else been treated this way.

Terence,

I had bone marrow cancer at the age of 8 months. I am now 35 years old. If they could cure me almost 35 years ago, I would imagine his success rate is great now.
