I had mine done six months ago & I have had the same thing....six months later it's still there (lump). So to answer your questions, I don't think your butt or mine is ever gonna look the same again.
I've been told by my dr that I can get the lump surgically removed , but I'm not going to go thru the painful experience again.
Did you swelling go away or did you have surgery I am 3 weeks out and that large ball swelling is getting bigger,,,so scared its ugly painful and pretty hard to poop with, My Dr is a jerk didn't want to see me for 3 months I insisted on one month and they made my apt grudgingly for sure. I am horrified, how did it work out for you?
Did you put any cream on it..like prep H or anything?. Or just let it heal on it's own. My doctor told me my swelling would go away eventually too. I am 4weeks post op. It definitely looks better than it did..just wondering if there is anything I could do to speed up the process.
I had the "Big H" Surgery Nov. 21'2013. The surgery site was swollen and the bruise was black and blue/black.
To reduce swelling and bruising, another surgeon from a previous surgery, had me take Bromalain with Quercetin and Arnica Montana (AM).
DIRECTIONS
Four days before surgery begin taking Bromalain. Take one capsule, on an empty stomach, three times a day. Before breakfast, late morning and late afternoon. (This works if you are an early morning person.) Work out a schedule that works for you making sure you take all three before your last meal of the day.
On the day of surgery begin taking the AM . Put three (3) tablets under your tongue four (4) times a day. Before this Big H surgery I forgot to take the the Bromalain and I started the AM the day after surgery.
NOTE: the day after surgery I was shocked at the amount of bruising and swelling at the surgery site. 4 1/2 days after I began taking the AM, the bruising and most of the swelling was gone. The manufacturer of these two dietary supplements is VitaMedica.
I hope this helps you as well as others who might read this. Mptw
Hi all,
I had my hemorrhoidectomy last monday (about one week ago) and now im having a skin tag that is painfull, i had my check up yesterday and my dr told me that this is the tissue between the removed hemorrhoids ( i had 3 removed) and im really worried about this skin tag, it hurts and not comfortable, would it go away???? and how long will i have to wait to feel comfortable again??
Thanks
I had a horrific first week after surgery. I am now 13 days post op and feel good, yep good. I use Miralax after first meal daily. I "piggyback" Motrin and Tylenol every 4 hours. BM's are quick and bearable. I do a hot sitz bath for 10mins after every BM, use a hair dryer to dry the area, and use a thick overnight pad for comfort. I also let the wound breathe (lie on towel bare bottomed) for about an hour after daily shower, and am careful with my diet (bland foods, slowly reintroducing other foods, eating something small every couple hours, 25g fiber daily, 64oz water) I'm really itchy since yesterday, but my doc and I think it is because of the wound healing. Hang in there, it slowly, but surely gets better.
I am having lots of bowel movements in a day, my muscles are doing all the work I am not pushing or straining I am eating a well balanced diet and have macrogol sachets taken with a senokot tablet before bed
Six days post op and so so far it's worth it to do the surgery. The look of my ass is noticeably better, and the pain I've had is better than what I was experiencing with the roids both internal and external. It's also a change of life for me and my eating habits. Sitz baths are fabulous too.
I had a hemorrhoidectomy 11 days ago now. It's been helpful to read about everyone's experiences. Thank you for sharing them and I'm very sorry for your pain and stress.
My procedure in hospital was ok. I was lucky in the sense that my surgeon is widely regarded as excellent and his bedside manner is outstanding. I had a lot of confidence in him going into the procedure.
I must admit, I still felt a bit anxious though -- this was the first operation I have had so everything was pretty new to me and the implications of this kind of procedure going badly were not lost on me. Also every person I had talked to commented on how painful hemorrhoidectomy is.
After admission early in the morning I had an enema, they took some blood and I was wheeled into theatre. I remember the first few moments and the oxygen mask going on. I then woke up in recovery. I had a catheter in, and I was not in too much pain that I can remember.
I was wheeled back to my room after < 1 hr. I tried to eat a bit for lunch, but threw up due to the medications. That evening the pain started to pick up, and the nurses started giving my paracetamol and oxycodone. That controlled the pain reasonably well. The surgeon checked in with me that evening and indicated that the procedure had gone well, but he had needed to remove a lot of prolapsed tissue and there had been an annal fissure to repair as well.
The first night in hospital was ok, but my catheter must have worked its way into a strange position and would not drain at all unless I was standing and would become quite uncomfortable. That made the first night interesting and not particularly restful. The pain would spike now and then, but was manageable with the medication.
I had been taking movicol which had made my stomach quite uncomfortable and by day two I was thinking about my first BM. They removed the catheter and I walked around the ward a few times to try to help get things moving. That evening I had my first small BM. It was painful as advertised, but I had expected worse. I did not throw up, pass out, or scream, but I did sweat, pant and may have whimpered a bit.
Having illustrated that I could poo, they released me from hospital on the morning of day 3. I was happy to go home with my little wifey, but I developed a deep hatred for speed bumps on the way.
Recovery at home has been ok. The pain is definitely still there, and particularly pronounced during and after BM's. For the first 5-6 days I was pooing 3-4 times a day associated with bleeding and my stomach is unsettled most of the time. I try to anticipate and take strong pain killers before BM's and sit in the bath afterwards, which helps a bit.
The last few days I have been needing the toilet less and less, and have settled into a more normal routine of 1, maybe 2 times a day. It's still uncomfortable and the baths help, but I do not need the stronger pain killers anymore to use the toilet. I have been getting outside the house for coffee and meals, driving a bit and have been going for walks around the local park. Tomorrow I go back to work so I have been weening myself off the stronger pain killers. The last two days have been painful, but tolerable. I will say that constant low level pain certainly does make you tired and gives you a sort of detached feeling from life.
Throughout I have experienced a small amount but continuous uncontrolled leakage of pus/mucous. Although it's been fairly minimal it's inconvenient to say the least and I'm really hoping that it clears up and is not is a long term issue after hemorrhoidectomy. We will see.
Best of luck to everyone.
